Anybody applied to the fall 2010 semester? I just received an invite to take the TEAS!

IMO that Med Surg book i used more than I ever did the Fundamentals book (you pretty much use the med surg book in semester 2 for chronic and semester 4 for acute)...

i actually thought the fundamentals was a waste of money since I never really used that book

I also agree with the rest... (the math book is pointless its pretty easy math they teach you)

I just graduated in May so if book things change im sorry!

AznPlayR99 & CyclicalEvents how exactly would you describe your studying habits? What are usually the formats to exams in class? Is it just generally stressful and time consuming due to the amount of material that must be learned? What would you all say were the toughest parts of nursing school? Tips on getting through the stress. Thanks for the responses!

Umm, usually the tests are all multiple choice so it's not that bad. There will be like 10 calculations on like the pharm tests and i think chronic (2nd semester) and others...

Well, I didn't work and I don't have a family so for the most part nothing was stressful for me. (sorry i know!) I really only studied using the power points and I only used the book when I didn't understand my notes or the power point... Technically i never really read....

I usually studied the weekend before the test all the way up until the night before and my grades were pretty good. (though I did have a 1st degree and that really helped me in classes) But for the most part it just came naturally for me and everyone hated me for it haha...

I would say the nothing was really hard in nursing school until I got into Peds/OB/Acute

Which is 3rd semester and 4th those tests required more thinking than the rest and the only classes I got B's in. Also usually the hardest part is the 1st test of the semester because you never really know what kind of questions they are gonna ask and then after that you kind of settle in....

Tips: I'm more of a class person. I go to class and I take pretty good notes so thats why I never really had to read because it just made sense when they explained it. Other people READ EVERYTHING but it worked for them. A lot of the girls used flash cards which i thought was crazy haha. Some people just took the objectives off the power points and just answered those questions and they did well on the test.....

Ahh, did that make sense? If you have any more questions feel free to ask... (I'll try to answer when im not dying from lack of sleep from work haha)

Thanks, you covered it really well. That was the insight that I was looking for.

I hope you do find some rest :)
