UTHSCSA Fall 2010 HOPEFULS!

Published

Anybody applied to the fall 2010 semester? I just received an invite to take the TEAS!

Hawkins- you are going to have to travel to SA and take it! i live in houston and i gotta wake up @ 4am to make it there on time and early =(

PS: are you applying to UTHouston as well? You were in the other forum too right and made that fb group? I know UTSA accepts 120 ppl i dont know the avg amount that apply but imma say its less competition than UTHouston.

There are testing sites in Houston, according to the ATI website. I'm thinking about testing in Houston because all of the tests in San Antonio are when I'm at work.

Yep, that's me. I'm applying to UTSA, UT Houston, and Texas A&M.

Aloha all.

I live in Hawaii, so I had to take the TEAS early, cuz they only offer it 2 times a year. And I called UTHSC and got the story on the process:

First you should receive an email inviting you to take the TEAS. I beleive that those went out last week. It was a mass email.

After the closeout date for all the TEAS tests they will rack and stack the applicants. If you make the cutoff you should get notification to start this fall. (I believe this will be by email too).

I would check to make sure your email is correct... :)

Good luck on your TEAS!

You should be taking/studying for TEAS 4.0. I asked the school about that too.

I don't quite understand the process.. Does anyone know? I thought all those who have been invited to take the TEAS are the students they are highly considering or are they letting everyone who met the minimum requirements take the test? Also, in the letter along with the transcript evaluation, they said something about a communication assessment after the TEAS.... Does anyone know anything about that?

HI cmonroe86,

this is what I know... an intial cut is made from all eligible applicants based on GPA. There were 500+ applicants, not all were eligible, so not sure what the pool of applicants was after those were weeded out.

They chose a GPA cut-off and those are the people they invited to take the TEAS. After the TEAS scores are in, those applicants will be ranked based on GPA, TEAS, and essay questions.

I beleive they did away with formal interviews circa fall 2009, and instead use the essay questions. This is likely the communication portion you mentioned.

I got this information on the phone from an advisor in the nursing department. If anyone has any other information, PLEASE SHARE!

400 got invited to take the TEAS... or @ least were eligible...

juliejellybean,

R U serious? 400? Did the school tell you that? And there are how many seats? Like 120? right?

yes 120 seats.... okay i called yesterday and i might have been confused.... but its either 400 were eligible and then they cut down or 400 got invited

Wow! I'm really starting to stress out! Have you apllied before? I think you said you also applied to Houston too? Well I hope you get accepted to one of them! Keep me posted if you hear anything. I feel like I am out of the loop being so far away and all.

I don't believe they invite all 400 to take the TEAS. I was reading throught the Spring 2010 threads and they were saying they invited about 200 to take the test and after that they chose the 120 students out of the 200 after reviewing test scores, gpa, and essays. I don't know if it's the same this semester.

hopefully you're right but im not surprised if its 400.... @ UTHouston they are interviewing 300 for the slots so 400 isnt that far off!

-zx7... thank you! i hope you get your choices as well =)

omg how hard was the science part of the TEAS? im starting to freak out
