UTHSC Traditional BSN Spring 2014 Applicants

I just spoke to a BSN counsellor at Uthsc-H. I asked her a couple of questions, and this is what she said.
1. They will not release the number of applicants until those who get admitted are admitted. Hence, not until the very end. Then she asked me why I wanted to know that. I said I wanted to see how competitive this application pool is. She simply replied to be competitive you should have high GPA and Hesi scores.
2. I asked to verify if the school had changed the deadline from August 15 to Sept 1, and she replied the deadline date still remains the same 08-15.
3. For those who are still waiting for evaluations (like me), they are still in the process of processing them since there are many applicants.

How did you go about scheduling an advising session for the nursing program? I called and they outright said they were unable to advise current nursing applicants.

I wasn't trying to discredit what you said, sorry if it appeared that way. I'm certain they are going just as crazy as all of us are. However, I am with you, it is odd that she told you extended.

@karnie1o1: No, I did not go to an advising session. I just called this number 713-500-2000, and transferred to speak to a BSN nursing counsellor (I think dial 4 afterwards). Then I asked her those questions.

@apriljacklynn: Perhaps you accidentally spoke to the wrong admission counsellor. At least now, we know for sure the deadline stays where it is; so maybe less applicants? :smug:

I was told it was extended to the 1st also. And I called 7135002100 n then hit 5

@alex21_: Did you talk to a BSN counsellor? You must have gotten mixed up with the RN-BSN deadline. The deadline is still August 15 for BSN applicants otherwise it would have been stated on the website. And I did speak to a BSN counsellor this morning.

I know the deadline.I'm just saying when I called to ask about the # of applicants, that's what I was told. I submitted all my stuff by the 15th. Their info is just inconsistent right now.

I'm thinking they did extend the deadline to allow for processing of those who submitted their applications closer to the 15th, but not necessarily to accept new applications after the initial deadline. However, regardless, it doesn't matter too much anymore because the supposed "new" deadline had already passed even before I posted about it....But no worries, no one is discrediting anyone else. We hear what we hear, and if you have tried contacting the school by any means, you would know that they are SUPER busy. Information is likely to get mixed up/slip through the cracks. My bf even tried to deter me from applying again given the fact that they hadn't been very responsive to my inquiries during the last application period ;(

Same here too. Has anyone receive an evaluation through the mail?

I haven't receive mine yet. Probably because there are a lot of applicants.

From last year forum (Spring 2013), the first post was dated October 18 for an acceptance. Thus, I'm thinking halfway through October?? But since our deadline was earlier this year (Aug 15) vs last year's (Sept 1) maybe they'll send acceptances earlier??
