I have seen many threads for previous applicants for past semesters to the UT Houston School of Nursing. I wanted to start one myself as I am applying for the spring 2014 traditional BSN and have yet to find a thread for it. Although I opened it for applicants, I would also encourage previous applicants, current/previous students, and applicants for other semesters at UTHSC to join in and share in this exciting time!
Quick question for everybody. I have already finished A&P 1 and microbiology and made As in both. The nursing school has all my minimum requirements: hesi scores application, 40 hours minimum, and of course 8 hours science minimum. However I'm currently taking gen chem 1 at my university and the grades wont officially go into my transcript until August 16 (the day after the deadline). Ill be sure to send it in as soon as I can but do you guys think since I already have my two sciences done and the deadline will be passed, will they use the chem grade to go into my science GPA if its after the deadline? Or will they just have that on record as I complete the rest of my prereqs this fall for spring entry? I don't want them to think I'm hiding my grade from them as it is literally one day after deadline. I've tried calling and emailing the school and so far I've had no responses. Anybody have any idea?? Also, did everyone here take gen chem 1? Or was there a nursing chem available to you. I have barely started and it's already kicking my butt and overwhelming me to no end. Anybody?[/quote']I'm not sure how that will go. I would assume since it is after the due date they may not take the grade, but I would call them to make sure. I did take gen chem I and a bunch of other chems since I majored in chem. it does get better once you move on past gen chem II. What topic are you having trouble with?
Mole to mole ratio stuff...I can understand moles but not to an extent. Also the combustion reactions like ok .100 g of H2O how many moles of H was in the original reaction (it also gives you other g of other chemicals in the reaction) but I just can't figure the stupid thing out! And I'm hoping they only take my 1st 2 sciences because Idk how ill do in this chem class...

Hello, I had a similar question and this is the reply I got:
Science prerequisites consist of AP 1 & 2, Microbiology and Chemistry. A transcript showing all coursework done by the deadline date needs to be submitted by the deadline date. This can include courses that are in progress.
Still very vague in my opinion....
BTW Hello all! My name is Hallie, I submitted my application for Spring 2014. I am almost complete, just waiting to finish my Chem class next week and for UT to receive my transcript! Good luck to everyone!!
For the UTHSC SON applications is it always an advantage to apply earlier? Some schools don't look at the applications until the deadline. Also, after you apply, do you have to pay the application fee as soon as possible?[/quote']As for if they prefer applicants to apply earlier, I'm not sure if that plays any role in their decision, but I did have to pay the application fee to submit my application. So it's not something you can put off past the deadline.
I just opened up the application and it says you have to list your Hesi scores. DO you have to take the Hesi Exam before you can submit your application?[/quote']Yes and an advisor told me that it needs to be taken at least 15 days before the deadline, so that they have time to process and collect your scores from Elsevier.

You finished the common app? I'm thinking I may wait a bit to see if I get accepted off of the waitlist from Utmb. But TWU is a great school, really competitive and the program is difficult, but I guess that's a good thing. It's one of the top colleges for nursing in Texas. Which campus did you apply for?
