UTHSC Summer 2014 Application

Published

Hey! I am applying for the Accelerated BSN program at UT Health Science Center Houston that starts in the summer and had couple of questions. I didn't see any topics regarding that particular session (saw the Spring 2014 one) so I started this one.

So I have most of my prereqs for nursing but I still need to take my science prereqs during the upcoming fall semester. I had taken most of the prereqs (like english, psychology, etc) during high school, like dual credit, and now I just need my science classes and a few extra prereqs (like sociology).

The main question that I had about the application process was if I am eligible to apply just yet? I want to enter the summer term and will complete all my prereqs by Spring 2014. But the deadline is Dec 1 (if i'm right). Would I have to complete my science prereqs first? Or could I send in what I have and continually update them with my grades? I will complete all other requirements before the deadline (taking the HESI in October), but my grades won't be complete till after the deadline.

Thanks in advance for any help and i'm looking forward to other applicants for this session!

Come on UT get on with it already!! :)[/quote']

No kidding!!!

Guys just to let you know all of this waiting you are doing, and all the stressing over things is only going to continue. As a current student the best advice I can give you is to relax. Enjoy this time. When school starts for yall it will be hectic and you will all be moving incredibly fast through all of this. One second your excited to be in and literally in the blink of an eye your applying for jobs. All of yall are worthy to be in here. If you don't get in the first time don't let it get you down. Think about it like this. Yea you don't get in so you wait an extra 4 months for a career that you will be in for the next 20 years or so. Good luck to all of you. If you have questions or concerns that aren't being answered from the school ask away and I'll see what I can answer. Have a good day guy's

I have emailed and called several times, to just get an answer that I have everything turned in, and not to pay attention to the website. Both my Summer and Fall status is a yellow triangle. When I applied for the Spring last year I had a green circle, but when I applied for summer it has been a yellow triangle. Then I applied for Fall, and it was a green circle at first for a couple of days, and then turned into a yellow triangle. They both say that they need my HESI scores, but my fall also states that I need Proof of TSI. I would feel much more comfortable if it was a green circle. If they change yours, can you let me know who you emailed, because maybe I am emailing the wrong people.

Following up from this comment...

I received a reply email stating that the yellow triangle "will not cause a problem with the admission process." Seems to me, as long as you have sent in what they require, you are good. She added that the acceptance/denial letters will mail out April 15th. She did not, however, state for which semester she was referring to. I would assume based on my email and the timing, she was referring to fall entry. Hope this helps...

Thank you for the advice. Would you give us some useful tips for when we do start? What is the first week/month like? Looking back, how could you have been better prepared for the school once you started? What preparation did have that you are thankful for? How is the life/school balance going and how can that be improved upon or prepared for? Thanks in advance for any info you provide.

I FINALLY received my transcript evaluation!

3.395 overall

3.590 nursing pre-requisite

3.750 science

Not as great as some of the others I've seen, but considering my science GPA was a 2.9 the first time I applied to UTHSC, I still have something to look forward to.

Fingers crossed we find out sooner rather than later.

:cautious:

Well I had taken pharm and patho at another university before I got in and petitioned for credit. That took a big load off of me. However, anything over the summer in my opinion will be difficult. The time frame will be very condensed for yall and tests will overlap. But first semester for everyone usually takes some getting used to. Patio and pharm are pretty intense courses. Assesment and care 1 a generally the easier of the classes in my opinion and from what my classmates have told me. My best advice is don't get behind early. Do the little things when they are assigned and don't wait till the last minute to study or do assignments. Be smart with your time and do give yourself a break here and there. This first semester is a foundation to you. Everything after this will build on what you have already learned. Everyone I talk remember a back to their patho or remembers back to their pharm. Yall will be fine. Trust me if this guy could do it you can do it. I'm not a Einstein and I had a lot of fun with my classmates and still managed decent grades. We're there some stressful moments absolutly, but nothing you can't handle.

Sorry for the typos I wrote this on my phone

Thank you for that! I'm looking forward to the challenge just as the many other people are on this blog. I appreciate the advice.

Anyone else having trouble logging in to myUTH?

I couldn't log in at all last night, I haven't tried today. Maybe they're updating our application status? One can only hope! :)

I had the same problem earlier this morning. So, I decided to check it out one more time about 20 minutes ago and it allowed me to sign on :-)

Me too, it finally let me in and no changes. Oh well, wishful thinking I guess!
