UTHSC (Houston) Spring

Published

This thread is dedicated to the applicants of UT Houston's Spring 2012 application period. I've seen various threads posted throughout the discussion forum regarding the upcoming application period, but they are scattered and hard to keep track of. Maybe if we keep our discussion in one place it will be easier for us all to follow :)

I'm applying with the following stats:

Pre-req GPA: 3.21

Science GPA: 3.66

Overall GPA: 2.81

I know my chances of getting in aren't great with my overall GPA, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed anyway! Please post your stats, your thoughts, your experiences, ideas and opinions here:)

Good luck to everyone!!

Huh. I created one and added you, let's see if that works. Everyone else search "UTHSC SON Spring 2012" and it should come up!

Congratulations, Jade! Your holds updated yesterday, but the status update takes 24 hours to be complete. So everyone else not accepted yesterday, check your holds! :)

@amby if there is any possibility you have had the shot, at all, no matter how young, go get a titer. It is much cheaper than the shot series, and at one point in time hep b was pretty standard. Also, if everything I have been told is true, you only have to have 2 out of 3 of the hep b series completed by the time you start. The first two can be taken a month apart, so if you start now, you can get them in time. The fast track hep b series is ridiculously expensive and I would suggest not doing it unless you absolutely have no other options.

@ taylorxteddy. What grade was it that you got the shots? I have my shot records from elementary school but the hepatitis is not on there. I am going to call my mom and see if she remember me ever having to get them. I did read in some other posts that you just have to have the first 2 done before the program starts so if that the case I should be fine, but I would love to save some money if I have already had them.

@amby, I just got off the phone with my elementary school... According to the nurse that I spoke to, the requirement for the Hep b shot was only enacted for those who were born after 1987, so if you were born before then, you most probably did not get one...

Hope that helps

*wineHey guys I just checked my status and I got accepted!!!! Since I haven't posted that often (I just found this thread yesterday), I just thought I would share my stats for anyone who is interested.

Man, that sucks! Wonderful information anyway because it saves me some time. I was born in 1985! Missed it by two years. Thanks for checking for me.

Congrats, Amby!! :yeah:

Congrats amby! Did you take the hesi once?

Yay amby!!!!!!!! What does your last name start with? I'm still holding out for a miracle ;)

@alm625 My last name is Castleschouldt.

@taylorxteddy I had to take the Hesi exam twice. The first time I did great on everything but I got a 65 on the A&P portion. I studies for 5 days straight and then went and retook it and scored the grades I just posted.

Has anybody had their holds updated yet today? I'm thinking the admissions ladies are on Facebook at work again...

Grats, amby!!

@tay, please do not worry about retaking the HESI. UT-H seems to be ok with retakes (even with classes) so you're golden, as evidenced by Amby.

Well I'm actually glad I have work today. It will give me something better to do for a few hours instead of refreshing UTLink in complete suspense. Other than dy, no one beyond K has had hold changes. Today could be our lucky day.
