UTHSC Houston FNP Summer/Fall 2016

Published

Hi!!! So I applied by the January 1, 2016 deadline. Any others out there?

1 year of ER experience, prior career as dietitian with emphasis on nutrition education and counseling. 3.7 Nursing GPA. Just wanted to give it a try!

IcapNICU_RN, I just looked at the syllabus and it doesn't list subtitles under neuro to include mental health and they are only going by the syllabus which only states neuro

policy says they MAY BE able to transfer UT to UT credits so I guess it's up to their discretion

Anyone know when textbook selections will be made??

I spoke with the bookstore, and it looks like we will be able to purchase books online starting May 2nd. They said majority of the textbooks have been selected and are available in the bookstore since the beginning of this week.

Hey what classes is everyone taking this summer? I am enrolled in pharmacology and roles.

Patho and informatics :)

Patho

Informatics and healthcare tech

I'm still not sure because I am waiting on approval for transfer credits.

Hi I just got accepted to the fall 2016 FNP program I was wondering do we have to find our own preceptors?

Hi, planning to apply to UTHSC for FNP for next summer, so don't have personal experience... BUT a good friend of mine just graduated from the UTHSC FNP program last semester and she has told me that yes, you need to secure your own preceptors and it was the most stressful aspect of the program for her. They do help, and there are a few placements, but for the most part she found her preceptors by looking at a list of past preceptors that UT provided. Hope this helps. Maybe someone with personal experience can chime in and elaborate.

Really? that makes me nervous because I am not from Houston, I will be moving up there for school and currently have no connections.
