UTHSC-Houston Fall 2012 Applicants

Published

Hello everyone! This thread is for everyone applying to the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston. I believe they will be accepting applications from January 15-April 1, so the sooner the better! Their admission requirements are pretty standard:

Minimum Pre-Req Gpa: 2.75

Minimum Science Gpa: 3.0

Minimum HESI A2 score: 75% or higher on all required sections - math, reading comprehension, vocabulary/general knowledge, grammar, anatomy and physiology, critical thinking.

My info is really not that competitive, but I'm going to give it a shot anyways -

Pre-Req Gpa: 3.30

Science Gpa: 3.0 (Barely cutting it! :crying2: )

Overall Gpa: 3.28

Hesi score: 93.3% overall, with my lowest score being a 90.

My gpa is not the best, but I still have 3 more classes to finish this semester, and I'm aiming for all A's! I think the best thing I have going for me is my HESI scores.

Anyone else planning on applying? What are your stats? Any questions? Lets hear them, and good luck to all who are applying!

Hello everyone, this message goes out to everyone that made the cut for the Accelerated program starting May 2012. Congrats! I made a Group page on Facebook with the title "UTHSC SON BACC2 Class of 2013." I think this would be a great outlet to keep in touch throughout our time together in this program if we ever need each others help or guidance. Just search UTHSC SON BACC2 Class of 2013 on Facebook and you can add yourself to the group as well as your friends that are in the program. Look forward to seeing all of you in a month!

Awoww - I searched for the group on facebook, but couldn't find it...

The link worked - Thanks!

yuppp so ut portal is deff not working. thank you for telllling us so we are not all freaking out right now (:

Does anyone know what happens with your financial aid if you accept for one school but end up going to another? Thanks!

I would probably call the financial aids office of the school you have been accepted and figure out if they can do anythingg but idkkk which school have you been accepted too?

Transcript evaluations? I haven't gotten that.. is that a bad sign? Does it come in the mail? Does everyone get one? *confused*

From talking to past applicants about the evaluations: not everyone gets one, you don't have to have one to be accepted, its not a good or bad sign, you might get one after they accept/reject people and they come in the mail. I hope this helps. I just got mine last week so I know they're still sending them out!

Congrats to everyone that has been accepted! I am almost done with my first semester... It's been a little intense, but I'm still making it. Can't wait to welcome you all! :) We have a FB group that helped us tremendously prior to being accepted, and still continues to help us. It was a great way for us to know people at orientation (or at least feel like we knew them), and share encouraging stuff we found around the net. If you guys decide to make one for your class, I think it's a great idea, but please know that our instructors make a big deal about being selective of what is posted. No official documents owned by the school or professors can be posted, no non-students should be added, no negative comments about the school/classmates/professors should be posted, etc, but other than that it is great having one! Good luck on your upcoming endeavors! If anyone has any questions, feel free to ask here or message me. I am just paying it forward like the upperclassmen did for us! :)

I received my transcript evaluation about 2 weeks ago and I had the same thing happen that a lot of you experienced. Some of my classes that I know for a fact will count toward the classes required where under the "classes that do not fulfill requirement" section. I have emailed but have yet to receive a response. Any of you who have had the same problem figure it out? Also, will we be notified via email or snail mail of our acceptance? Best of luck to everyone!

@ meghana09, I was accepted to TWU. I thought that their deadline for financial aid acceptance was this week, before we'd hear from UT. Turns out, oddly, the date changed. So i have a bit more time before I make my final decision or figure it out - whichever comes first. Whew!
