Hello everyone! This thread is for everyone applying to the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston. I believe they will be accepting applications from January 15-April 1, so the sooner the better! Their admission requirements are pretty standard:
Minimum Pre-Req Gpa: 2.75
Minimum Science Gpa: 3.0
Minimum HESI A2 score: 75% or higher on all required sections - math, reading comprehension, vocabulary/general knowledge, grammar, anatomy and physiology, critical thinking.
My info is really not that competitive, but I'm going to give it a shot anyways -
Pre-Req Gpa: 3.30
Science Gpa: 3.0 (Barely cutting it! )
Overall Gpa: 3.28
Hesi score: 93.3% overall, with my lowest score being a 90.
My gpa is not the best, but I still have 3 more classes to finish this semester, and I'm aiming for all A's! I think the best thing I have going for me is my HESI scores.
Anyone else planning on applying? What are your stats? Any questions? Lets hear them, and good luck to all who are applying!
I am also experiencing weird things with my transcript evaluation. I am currently taking classes and have three more to take this summer, texas government, history, and physiology. And yes, I do have the "at least one other requirement has not been met."
However, I just received my second evaluation today. The first evaluation they did not give me credit for AP english that I took in high school which gave me the english credits I need for college. However, they did give me credit for AP statistics. I tried calling 3 times, there was never a response, and then I finally received an email back and they didn't even address my name correctly and gave a very vague response.
Now, the second evaluation I received today is not giving me credit for the english classes OR the statistics, which they previously did. Anyone else have this happen to them? Does anyone have AP classes that gave them credit for college but UTHSC-H won't give them credit for? Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated!!!
Hey guys! I was hoping someone could help me out with a question. I'm applying to the accelerated program for fall '13. I plan to have everything sent in by July as I'll be spending the rest of the year abroad, but I'm worried the interview will put a hitch in that plan. So I'm wondering when y'alls interviews were? Is there a certain week that they just interview all the applicants or do they call/email to schedule one so many weeks after you send in your application?
Hey @meghana09, I think that's right - since you haven't completed micro yet, your trans eval will say that it's still "required". It shouldn't affect whether you get accepted or not as long as you have 8 of the 16 hours of prereq sciences complete. If/when you're accepted, you just have to get it in by a specific date. I'm not sure what that is -- definitely before registration, but if you're taking it this summer, just double check when the class will be over so you can get a transcript to them before their deadline.
Hello everyone! I have been following this forum since applying to UTHSC-H SON and it has been a very useful source of info, but I haven't participated until now. I am a UTHCS-H employee (not an employee of the nursing school) and we just got a university-wide email saying the following "the myUTH portal will be unavailable to students beginning Friday, April 6 at 6 pm through Thursday, April 12 at 7 am". I just wanted to pass this info on to everyone since I know we are all waiting patiently to find out about our acceptance status via this site. It would be awesome if we find out before the 6th, but there is the possibility that we will be in the dark right up until the mid-April deadline. The email also says "Applicants needing to accept an offer of admission should contact the school’s Student Affairs office directly during the period myUTH is unavailable." I don't know any more than this so I am just putting the info out there in case the website does become inaccessible to us during that time and everyone is freaking out and wondering why. Good luck everyone!
The shut down doesn't have anything to do with the updating status of applicants; it is just system maintenance. The myUTH portal is just a new, improved system and they have to update it with all the old student information from the previous systems (UTLINK and SIS). They are shutting down the myUTh portal so that they can migrate the data securely. This maintenance should prepare the system to do the following:
STUDENTS:
Review/Update Personal Information
Enroll for Classes
Review Class Schedule
View Student Financial Account
Pay Tuition and Fees
View Financial Aid Status
Accept/Decline Financial Aid Awards
Track Application Status
Review Hold Information
View/Print Unofficial Transcripts
FACULTY
View Class Schedule
Manage Course Enrollment
View/Print Class Roster
Post Grades
The result will be a more user-friendly, self-service portal. They are doing this now to prepare for all the Fall 2012 student registration. We were informed of these changes months ago, so it should not be catching the SON off guard. They may intend to get notifications out before or after this time period using the portal, or maybe they will send old-fashioned acceptance letters, who knows.

I had a quick question. When you guys got your transcript evualtion it has like 4 things. Your tsi exemption, overall gpa, nursing pre req, and the science gpa. But on the top of that mine also said " at least one other requirement has not been met. " is it possible because I am still taking other classes? Does anybody else's also say this?
