Hello everyone! This thread is for everyone applying to the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston. I believe they will be accepting applications from January 15-April 1, so the sooner the better! Their admission requirements are pretty standard:
Minimum Pre-Req Gpa: 2.75
Minimum Science Gpa: 3.0
Minimum HESI A2 score: 75% or higher on all required sections - math, reading comprehension, vocabulary/general knowledge, grammar, anatomy and physiology, critical thinking.
My info is really not that competitive, but I'm going to give it a shot anyways -
Pre-Req Gpa: 3.30
Science Gpa: 3.0 (Barely cutting it! )
Overall Gpa: 3.28
Hesi score: 93.3% overall, with my lowest score being a 90.
My gpa is not the best, but I still have 3 more classes to finish this semester, and I'm aiming for all A's! I think the best thing I have going for me is my HESI scores.

I got accepted to UTMB on Friday via email and received my official letter in the mail yesterday! It was a relief to know that I will be attending nursing school in the Fall just not a 100% where as I have not heard anything from UTHSC or TWU. Still anxiously awaiting their response!

Oh, and no I haven't heard anything from the 4 schools I applied to. After my mom, you guys will be the first to know when (working on the positive thinking here) I get in. There should be a relaxation DVD for nursing school applicants because this is insane!
Thank you Krique39! I'm sure we are all going to start hearing here pretty soon. I seriously laughed out loud when I read your post on the relaxation DVD! You should patent that! Lord knows I would buy it and probably many others on here!
I heard from UTMB on Friday as well.:w00t: I agree with ktdidit that I am still waiting to find out anything from UTHSC. I couldn't apply to TWU But I am relieved to know that NO matter what I will be starting nursing school in the Fall! The relief is HUGE, and at this point I am no longer "stalking" my UTHSC link. Only time will tell, I guess, as to where I will be getting my BSN though..... Maybe UTHSC will starting changing links this week (high hopes) since this coming up weekend I am going out to celebrate getting into Nursing school! :cheers:
Hello everyone! I have been following this thread for a while but I am super busy that I dont get to post. After going full time for the last year including mini sessions and summer I am starting to feel a little burn out. Anyway I heard something last wednesday in my Anatomy Class that blew my mind. One of my classmates is also applying for UTHSC-Houston Fall semester and she was called in for an interview. She had her interview last week and it all went great. I thought they had discontinued interviews. Anybody else heard this? Has anybody gotten an interview?
Future.Nurse- She might have mistakenly heard that her classmate had an interview at UTHSC, it might have been UTMB coz they have discontinued interviews since last semester.

Futurenurse - there is NO way that she got an interview at UTHSC. They are DEFINATELY not holding interviews. UTMB has been holding interviews... I know for sure the week before Spring break and the week of. I interviewed during Spring Break (Wed) and got my acceptance email this past Friday (9 days later).

I won't pretend to be an expert on the details of every program, and obviously we all know that they are no longer doing interviews for the traditional BSN, but is it possible that they are still interviewing for the accelerated program?

It was me who heard her. She was talking to another classmate and when I heard that I immediately did I double take. I apologized for eavesdropping and asked her if I heard correctly and had her verify that it UTHSC and NOT UTMB and she said yes. That it was the only school she was applying to cause UTMB is too far. I was flabbergasted. She did say though that she had some bad grades from a few years back and that they asked her about that. I guess they wanted to give her a chance to explain. I dont know. If I had gotten an interview that would have been awesome because I too have some bad grades from right out of high school.
