Hello everyone! This thread is for everyone applying to the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston. I believe they will be accepting applications from January 15-April 1, so the sooner the better! Their admission requirements are pretty standard:
Minimum Pre-Req Gpa: 2.75
Minimum Science Gpa: 3.0
Minimum HESI A2 score: 75% or higher on all required sections - math, reading comprehension, vocabulary/general knowledge, grammar, anatomy and physiology, critical thinking.
My info is really not that competitive, but I'm going to give it a shot anyways -
Pre-Req Gpa: 3.30
Science Gpa: 3.0 (Barely cutting it! )
Overall Gpa: 3.28
Hesi score: 93.3% overall, with my lowest score being a 90.
My gpa is not the best, but I still have 3 more classes to finish this semester, and I'm aiming for all A's! I think the best thing I have going for me is my HESI scores.
Anyone else planning on applying? What are your stats? Any questions? Lets hear them, and good luck to all who are applying!
What are the transcript evaluations like? I think I read somewhere that if you had all your pre-reqs complete that you didn't get one. Anybody know if that is true?
Sorry ktdidit... I have no idea if that is true or not but I know if I do not receive one I will probably go crazy now... just because I know others have gotten them . I also wanted to thank you for answering my question the other day.
did you say you found out about your acceptance in early march, not april??!
i've been thinking we won't find out until early april, and if you're saying there's a whole month i don't have to wait, then i am going to be incredibly excited.
if you are taking courses this semester the college transcript at where you are taking courses at should be on your to do list. am i right, cause if you do you get accepted then you have to send an updated transcript?
and did anyone figure why it says the bursar thing when you do account inquiry?

I was told by UTHSC that UTlink will probably start changing in March, but that official letters won't go out until April. I'm taking this with a grain of salt.... I saw how the Spring applicants had to wait forever.... They didn't know until the same month letters went out... Just not sure how far between the links changing and them getting their letters. But Nguyenchester - correct me of I'm wrong, but didn't y'all still have the interview process??
mine is the same. No changes. I wish there were some changes. maybe b/c I still have 2 classes to complete this semester. SO my application is not complete.
Mine changed but I think everyone's is the same because when I read what Hemphia wrote I got discouraged and logged back in to MyUTH. When you log in do you see a box on the left that says "myUTH corner" and a bigger one on the right labeled "to-do list" both in dark blue. Mine is exactly how they explained and I thought for a second it wasn't, just double check and you will see "account inquiry" inside the "to-do" list section its a little drop down box. I do not think they would know this quickly the "yes" students and the "no" students. Don't get discouraged!! :)

Today I got an envelope from UTHSC that made my heart stop. I had no idea what it could be, but I know that it is WAY too early to be accepted. I honestly stared at it for a few minutes trying to figure out what was in the envelope.... I was just hoping that it was not an early rejection letter saying something wasn't right on my application. So I opened the envelope and inside was......... A transcript evaluation..... lol!!! I swear that when this is all said and done my stress levels are going to go down so MUCH!!!!! I sure hope that this time doesn't drag on for each of us.
Nguyenchester - I thought we were already on a new system..... That is what the lady at the enrollment services explained to me. That they don't have all their numbers yet because this is a new system. Our UTlink does not show any holds.... When did y'alls update and reflect the first set of holds? Was it immediately?
I may be wrong but I thought I read in the other forums for UT students that getting a transcript evaluation was very good news. Basically accepted....? I can't say for sure but I thought this was a good thing. Anyone else know? Hemphia is this your first time or second to apply to the school? I wanted to see if others who had been rejected previously, got there letters early or at the same time acceptance letters went out, I see you mentioned fear of a rejection letter. I fear the SAME thing and I keep getting UT Dallas info letters and packets lol. I wanna go to UT Houston!!!! :)
Man I sure do hope that them taking more students for the fall benefits us all :)
I haven't gotten a transcript evaluation, and now I'll be nervous about this. I am always anxious about the checking the mail everyday even though I know nothing will come till march or april. Now I know about evaluations and I hope I get one.
What does the evaluation say when you get one??
ps. i am currently enrolled in Chem, APII, and Philosophy.
desjt3 - I am unfamiliar with transcript evaluations in correlation with acceptance. This is my first time around applying to the school. I hope that it is a good sign and I will keep my fingers crossed and pray for the best. I know that I applied for Fall 2012 in mid November, and that they got my updated transcript after the first of the year. I am not sure if that plays a factor in to when you might get an evaluation. I did not have one before this...... Has anybody who applied for the Spring heard of this before? About the correlation of getting a transcript eval with acceptance? When did you apply desjt3? And for those that have already gotten their evals, when did you apply to the program?
Meghana09 - I am currently taking classes to finish my pre-reqs for the program, but I have nothing in my to-do's nor do I have any holds. I am missing 4 classes which I am currently enrolled and charging through right now..... Also, in response to your question over the statement on link about bursar, that quote sounds correct.
But FYI according to my transcript evaluation from UTHSC my Pre-Reg GPA is 3.693, with my science being 4.0. I hope that my scores are good enough to meet their high standards!!!
Hmmm... I am curious about these evaluations! I applied last summer and turned in updated transcripts each semester. I finished my last pre-req in December and they received that transcript in early January. I know it's early but I didn't get one yet! My mom told me a long time ago that "patience is a virtue" and apparently I do not have that virtue! I guess I'll just have to stalk my mail lady!
