Hello friends!

I'm creating this as a communication board for new students/applicants to talk on about:

  • Current GPA -- science & overall
  • Requirements needed to apply
  • HESI test requirements
  • Applications -- status or general info
  • Acceptance!

A quick intro-- My name is Maira and I've followed previous threads on here and I love how much information you can get from it! (I followed and read ALL of UTHSC Nursing Spring 2016)

I'm applying at UThealth for the nursing pacesetter program for Spring 2017. The application is due by Aug. 15 and I haven't submitted it yet because I haven't taken the HESI! I'm getting anxious about taking it, have any of y'all taken yours yet?!

Also, I've been meaning to stop by the school and see if my pre-reqs meet their requirements. I'm a bit confused on whether they will average 2 scores of the same class or not. For instance, a long time ago I took a English course and got a F (I was careless and young) and now I retook it and got a A. Another thing that I've been wondering about is what exactly the 5 hours of "electives" are-- will they accept a math class for it?

Well I look forward to meeting all of you!!!! Good luck!!!! :inlove:

This is very irritating.

i am still "waitlisted," and I haven't heard a word from UT.

Why are they taking so long???

Just got a email from UT. I was on the waitlist and I was not accepted. Kind of expected it.

I was denied too. Just got the email.

how do I reapply, anybody knows?

Did they ever ask for your final transcript? I'm still wait-listed

Did you send in your final transcript

hi,What did you study to do that well on the hesi?

Hello! I was wondering if there was a certain amount of time you had to wait to take the HESI for UTHealth or could you turn around and register to take it again as soon as you didn't do so well the first time around? Thank you!

I retook the Hesi last week and did ok on every section except for the A&P section. Although I scored higher the second time around, it was still not high enough to apply for the program. I plan on retaking it for a third time after I complete A&P II. Third time will either be a charm or three strikes your out. I am worried that UT will not consider my app due to me having to take the Hesi three times just to pass one section. My stats are as follows:

Math 84%

Reading 82%

Grammar 88%

Vocab 88%

A&P 64% (36% on the first attempt)

Critical Thinking 890

I am so sorry girl :(...I just took my exam yesterday and did not do well. Got 70's on everything except math, I actually got an A on that. But I still do not make the cut. I have taken both A&P 1 & 2 and have gotten As on it. I love the subject. I know people who have taken the Hessi 5 times girl and still got in later of course. My advice to you is to not give up...I'm not sure what your status is right now, but if its your calling keep on trying! I can be able to tutor you in A&P if you need to.

What was so hard about it? How long did our prepare/how did you prepare? I don't know how to message on this site, but if you want to direct message me you can. I'm curious how the a&p and vocabulary sections were to you? Thanks in advance. You will do better if you decide to take it a second time--just have faith!!

Monday morning is almost here. Hope we get more good news. Good luck everyone

Hey... I got accepted for UT Health Summer 2016.

So, for your courses, I had to retake some of mine too and they told me they calculate everything when they determine your cumulative but if you had to retake Anatomy for example... they would calculate the HIGHER grade when calculating your science GPA. You might need at least a C in your english class (if thats one of the pre-reqs) I can't remember if it is or not.

HESI is not that hard. I mean, Anatomy was the hardest for me but really just practice the book over and over. It's a very good study guide for you. Let me know if you need anything else. I'll be happy to help!

do you have any tips for a&p and vocab?! Greatly appreciate it!!! (I know your post is from a while back--but it popped up when I searched HESI help. Thank you :)
