UTH Cizik School of Nursing BSN Pacesetter- Spring 2020

Updated:   Published

I thought I'd start this feed now. I applied in January. I know I'm early but I'm not much of a procrastinator. I just retook my Hesi and got a 89.2.. I feel I need to take it over but, some people are saying they don't even know UT's selection process. Can anyone enlighten me on that?

is anyone else nervous about the coursework and everything since it is accelerated and only 15 months? We would graduate in May 2021, which is amazing but scary! Do yall know people attending right now and how they're doing?

I thought we graduate in December 2021 , or is that for the accelerated program?

I am a little worried about the course work load but if we put in the time and effort it won't be anything unmanageable. I'm mainly nervous about the first semester doing pharmacology and pathophysiology at the same time.

I am also nervous about patho and pharm in the same semester. I applied to Texas Woman's University and have no clue how to decide between these schools if it comes to that. Does anyone know anything that places one above the other?

I just checked TWU’s page and they also offer pharmacology and pathophysiology in the same semester

I also applied to twu, and I don’t think I’m ready to make that decision of choosing

UT is accelerated and you would graduate May 2021. It is 16 consecutive months meaning you will have coursework through the summer as well.

TWU is a traditional program and you would graduate December 2021, there is not coursework through the summer.

You can search for past cohorts Facebook pages and ask to join them and see any struggles or concerns they may have. Each nursing school offers pharm and patho at the same time, although I do know TWU offers Patho during the summer, you may be able to talk to an advisor about holding that class till summer. Worth asking the question if you're concerned.

I wouldn't ever say one is "better" than the other. They both have high NCLEX pass rates: TWU is 93% pass for 464 students and UTs is 96% for 358 students, so if the schools actually had the same number of students I would say they would be 1% different.

All comes down to personal preference if you have the options!

It is accelerated meaning the regular semester is put into the one summer where we have to take classes, i feel like its not too bad because it just means we wont have regular breaks like thanksgiving breaks or anything which we would regularly have in a normal semester, I do wonder how many classes we would have to take over a summer tho

You do still get a Thanksgiving break, break between fall and spring semester, I believe a week or so between spring and summer semester and another week or so between summer and fall. It is a full semester during the summer, usually 3-4 classes.

Have yall already applied for scholarships? I am trying to figure out when we would get more financial information and how much the school is giving, like for HBU they give you automatic scholarships based on GPA
