Alas! Here I go again! This thread is dedicated to all hopefuls to either of the programs- AP or traditional. Let's partake in the sharing of ideas, suggestions, and/or insight in the "intricacies" of this nursing program. Former grads, new or current students are encouraged to chat. Knowledge is power, indeed! Continued blessings and success to all! Good Luck!
@Julie - I was accepted to the traditional program as well. Blackboard isn't showing anything for the orientation just yet for me either. I have mailed my acceptance back (certified mail) and I have completed my background check. Go to http://www.gp1.com/students. On the letter it is says "www.gpl.com/students" but that is incorrect. Once you are in there, it will ask names (previous names used too) and last 7 years of addresses. It will also ask something about licenses - but if you aren't licensed or certified in areas just hit continue.
Hope this helps!
And good luck to those still waiting on letters.
@nikkib375Are you currently taking pharmacology? I'm so afraid of taking this final this is my last chance to get it right ...I'm barley passing. Ugh any other help or suggestions feel free to let me know. And thx for info, it was very helpful!
@Judy, yes, I am currently taking Pharm and Patho. What has REALLY helped me in Pharm is I do excel spreadsheets on every single class of drug (main characteristics) and then under each class/category I list every single drug mentioned in the chapter AND the modules and any and all info that pertains to them. Basically, I took her drug template and put it into excel. For example, the column titles are "Indications", "Contraindications", "Common Side Effects", "Serious Side Effects", etc. It is a TON of work but I have a 90 in the class, so it definitely helps.
Also, remember that she drops your lowest test score and replaces it with the second lowest so that helps! I just realized that the final counts for 25% of our overall grade (yikes!) so I HAVE to make at least a 93 on the final to keep my A! Let the stress begin!
Hang in there, you can do it!!!
No letter today either - I'm calling Monday to see what's going on... Am partnered at Baylor - someone mentioned that the go by site when doing the rankings so maybe we were sent out after tuesday...either way - patiently I wait.... So proud and happy for all of you who have got accepted
@largemillion- I honestly don't know my overall GPA (I have so many transfer credits from various schools, that I am not sure) My science GPA is 3.4. I think it has something with how many students applied. I believe Baylor only had 10 spots last year...I have no idea how many applied who are partnered with Baylor, but im sure it's more than 10.

@tejas03 you can apply for the APBSN program through your partner facility at any time once you work there. For THR you just contact the education department and they send you the application forms and then you send them back to the THR education department and they forward them on to UTA for you. You have to have you manager's approval on the forms for the application so it shows the unit's support of you going back to school so be upront in interviewing that you want to go to nursing school as you will need them to sign forms for your application.
I am planning on working full time, 3 12 hour shifts a week while doing the AP program. The recommend only 20 hrs a week but for financial reasons I am going to need to stay full time to keep my benefits & my full time tuition reimbursement amounts.
Let me know if you have any other questions!
