Alas! Here I go again! This thread is dedicated to all hopefuls to either of the programs- AP or traditional. Let's partake in the sharing of ideas, suggestions, and/or insight in the "intricacies" of this nursing program. Former grads, new or current students are encouraged to chat. Knowledge is power, indeed! Continued blessings and success to all! Good Luck!
@nikkibro....great we will be in the same classes then! I've already taken the required lab safety test and logged onto blackboard and taken a look at the class set up/taken the syllabus quiz so I am all set for Monday...yea...ready to be done...hahaha! It's nice to know someone in the class now! :-)
I was just unwrapping the textbook and wondering what will be first....I prefer EPIC to blackboard though!
I did lab safety for the biol 1441 I just completed, so I don't think I'll have to do that again.
I am ready to be done too!!!
glad we'll be there together too!
Hello, all!
We need to catch up! Glad to see that this thread is jumpin'! Just finished the summer session- wicked, wicked, WICKED! Studying for boards + studying for summer courses= deadly combination! Too embarrassed to even talk about my grades...oh, well.
Finally taking my boards on next week since graduating last December...ha! Just noticing that I need to take the Critical Thinking section on the HESI A2 for TWO schools...thought I did, but Prometrics kindly reminded me that I certainly did NOT. Oh, well...again.
Hmmm. That certainly changes things. I do know this- I am mentally/physically drained. Too pooped for anything.
Anyone else feels the same way??
@tejas03
Congrats on the Micro course! Question: YOU ARE A NURSE?!
Where did I miss this? How long? Well, I guess at least 10 yrs, right! I know you're trying to find a job with a partner hospital. Do any of them have a specialty side(e.g, SNF/LTAC)?
Hey Mochachild!!! We've missed you!! So glad you've finished your summer classes too...you've had a lot on your plate...I know your exhausted! I'm proud of you for all you've done this summer...hang in there...when are you testing for boards?
The critical thinking of the HESI A2 was not horrible so taking that section will be easy for you and then you'll be done. Yea!! I am going to have to take the TEAS V next...looking into buying a study guide so I can study for that...a couple different colleges around here require that and I've only taken the HESI. Have you taken the TEAS V?
Are you taking classes in the fall? I'm getting ready to start A&P 1 (Mon) and then Pharm (Sept 8th) and will finish up with A&P 2 (in Oct). That sums up all the classes I'm eligible to retake and finishes the 3 pre requisites for UTA so if I'm not accepted in Spring '12...I'll have some time on my hands...hahaha!
Yes, I've been a LVN for 11 1/2 yrs. Thanks for your sweet congrats on micro..that class was a doozie!! lol At this point I've decided that a job at a partnering hospital may not be an option at this time and I'm not going to worry about it anymore...I've got 3 little ones and I didn't want to work during nursing school anyways so I'm just going to completely turn this over to God and what His will is will be! I'm not exactly sure if any of them have a SNF floor...I would bet they do but, unfortunately, with me lacking hospital experience I'm at a huge disadvantage compared to other LVNs applying. I've done a lot these last 11 years (in various areas..surgical 1st assist, pediatrics, 5 yrs urgent care, and outpatient endoscopy) so I know come clinical time it'll all come back to me so I'm not too worried.
I am applying for 3 different LVN transition programs here in the area that start next May...so no matter if UTA doesn't work out...I'm praying one of these will!! Soo happy your back on "board" with us...get some rest and let your mind relax (at least for a couple days..haha!)
@tejas03
Awww, shucks! You are awesome! It's YOU who deserve kudos- three kids AND a full-time student...AND a husband?! Aw, lawd! Not for the faint of heart. To God be the Glory!
I take my boards on 08.23 and everything is riding on this. For better or worse, my life as I know it, will change forever after that date. I'm sooo ready! hee hee:lol2:
As you know (and everyone else who has been following this thread), I have been crazy busy trying to apply to all of these schools (6...or maybe it's 7- lost count) AND keeping up with all of the due dates, student email addresses, student ID numbers, passwords, usernames, etc. At the end of the day, I just want some peace! Ahhh!
I have taken the TEAS V and it was hard for me; the HESI A2 was much easier. As far as the Fall semester is concerned, it will depend if I'm accepted to one of the schools that I applied to; if I don't get in, I'll work on this 2nd Bachelors (e.g., Health/Kinesiology) that I need to finish- only have 2 semesters to complete. There is no rest for Type A personalities! Trying not to become complacent. Once I do that, it's a wrap! ha ha!
Hi everybody, I will also be applying for the Spring.
@katybusymom and libra1018
I Just wanted to let you know, that the patho that El centro offers is a two credit hour class, and UTA requires a three hour class. But please, let me know about what your advisor tells you about the pharm because I would like to save some money too, if I can take it at El Centro.
Take care
@Mochachild...your too sweet! I thankfully have many friends (and some even on here too) with kids and family so they keep me inspired and motivated to make this happen!
Good luck tomorrow and I'll be saying a special prayer for you!! You will do awesome!
Well today starts A&P 1...so happy to know that after these 3 classes are over, it'll be time to start a nursing program where ever I'm accepted and finally I'll have accomplished a goal I set many years ago...whoohoo! Best of luck to you all this semester!!

Hi ggirl! Do you know what that course number is? I just double checked online and RNSG 1301 (Pharm) and RNSG 1311 (Patho) are both listed as 3 credit hour classes. My advisor stated specifically that it had to be in the RNSG series.
Let me know if you find something different! Thanks!

You're gonna do GREAT!! And same here--only these 4 classes left (though Med Term was not actually needed, so I guess just 3) and then I am home free and ready to go to wherever.
@Mochachild: Good luck!!
In the end, all will be as it should be. (blahhh, I hate those optimistic, motivational sayings, but they DO help!
Just popped in...been a while and was catching up. Kids went back to school today so I have a minute...lol. I had a FULL summer course load with 4 kids and a husband working out of town it sucked. My GPA slipped to a 3.2. I am taking Pharm that starts 9/12. I am taking College Algebra that starts today for the 2nd time. I withdrew last time. It is terrible but this is how I have to take it. Has anyone taken this class and how did you do well? There is NO teaching. I have bought DVDs that I am going to start on to try to teach myself. I have to get through it this time. Then I am taking Statistics that starts 10/24. I have decided to wait until Fall 2012 to enter the program. I applied for Jan. 2012 but IF I am called I will ask to be moved I guess. Can you do that???
Also, Congrats to everyone that took Micro...that class was horrendous. I have posted about it before. I ended up with a B which I was happy with.
I wish everyone luck with classes starting today. I am noticing a general negativity regarding UTA BSN program now. I have some complaints myself but don't have anything else to compare it to really except my local community college. I am also wondering if I should start looking somewhere else. I have come so far though.
@ggirl5, El Centro has two patho classes. You have to be sure to sign up for RNSG 1311 b/c that is the 3hr class. Pharm is RNSG 1301 and is also 3hrs. BOTH of those classes transfer to UTA.
Thanks for clarifying that for me as well. I didn't even think about there being another class in a different series--which, duuuuhhhh for me, makes sense then as to why my advisor was specific about it being the RNSG class :)

@libra -- thank you too! I need confidence for these classes.
