Hello,
I just wanted to check in and see if anyone has received acceptance or any kind of notification into the ONLINE FNP Academic partnership for the April 7th start!
Thanks
Maryann,
My friend will be graduating from UTMB in December. She says it is tough. She hasn't been able to work at all for the last semester. She said patho is extremely hard and is the only C she has (UTMB only allows 1 C for the entire program). UTMB also uses a traditional grading scale (100-90=A, 89-80=B, etc) UTA's is different (100-92=A, 91-83=B, 82-74=C). I don't regret my decision, I think it is better for me in the long run.
I really think I would have been fine if I had been able to reduce my work hours from the very start. I also heard about the next 5 week class which is research. There are a lot of assignments and I have no idea how I would have managed them with patho. It is a very serious decision. Dropping these courses is costing me about $3200 (got a 25% refund on patho). Another thing is I'm not married and don't have kids. I don't know how anyone with a family manages this.
ldawn79, are you sure you can do one class at a time, financial aid notwithstanding?
When I spoke to the enrollment counselor, she was insistent that it must be two classes at a time. I asked several times.
If they allow the slower pace, I could take better advantage of my employer's tuition reimbursement and pay for the rest out of pocket.
Ilovebees,
I talked to the advisor this morning and they are offering one class at a time but they do advise you that it will likely mess up your financial aide. I was trying to transfer into theay 19th start date and they would let me but since I already have a couple of classes there is nothing for me to take until September so I will start then. I am pretty excited. I will finish in the fall of 2017.
pink,
I think I would have been perfectly fine if I had not been working 40 hours. Try to cut back on your hours and be prepared to spend all other time working on homework. I did my RN-BSN through UTA and didn't find that to be any help other than Blackboard navigation. I did have one coach from the RN-BSN. I liked her then and she did offer tips that were a help. The other coach annoyed me. After the first patho quiz when everyone was in shock she posted something to the effect of "you're shocked...welcome to an accelerated graduate program." It felt like she was laughing at everyone's distress.

You can do one class at a time, but then you don't have enough hours for financial aid. Each class is $1900 and I cannot come up with that every 5-10 weeks. Especially if I reduce my hours at work.
