UTA Fall 2021

Published

Hey guys! I couldn't find a forum for Fall 2021 applications at UT Arlington so I decided to create one! I hope to connect with others who are going through the waiting process.

@shrugsoup same here regarding points and considerations, I have priority ranking but I am unfortunately not partnered.

Applied to UTA for fall '21!

Science GPA: 3.750

Overall GPA: 3.738

I work at Parkland so I'm partnered.  I also have previous bachelor's degree. Fingers crossed!

7.988 + partnered?  Should be in a pretty good position there I'd bet.

My nursing degree plan was updated yesterday to show the completion of two classes in December, so as someone else recently posted it appears  they're going through the apps and updating for numbers.

3.45 GPA + 4.0 science GPA. It has my total score at 7.95 meaning I got 0.5 from something, however it should be 1.0 (12 science credits from UTA and previous degree) so I'm wondering if it's still being processed?

Fingers crossed! I think it's promising that there's so few people posting here? Maybe that's a sign it's a slow semester? Or maybe that's just my wishful thinking!

The 12 science credits are probably on the advisors side of the degree plan. I had emailed about my 30 credits taken because it wasn't showing but my advisor said its checked off on her end and that I do get the .5 for that just can't be seen on my view of the degree plan.

I called Thursday to follow up on a question and I was told they’re not even halfway through applications. I have no idea what that means, I did ask if they knew how many applicants they had and of course they said no, which is odd because how would this person know they’re not halfway through all the apps if you don’t know how many apps there are?

Man there are so many people that are partnered, I wonder how many partnered people don’t get in every cycle? I’m glad I have priority ranking so I have at least a chance this cycle.

Interesting, every time I've been able to get through whoever answers is in such a bad mood I feel bad asking any questions.

Does anyone have any idea how much of a benefit being partnered actually gets you?

Not sure, but I know that they compete against the people who are at the same hospital. I don’t know if each hospital has the same number of spots or if they all get filled every cycle or where that leaves those with priority ranking?

I mean every cycle I hear about both partnered and non-partnered  being admitted so who knows how many partnered spots they have to fill? She did say they have 180 spots though. Different hospitals also seem to have different preferences (like wanting students with prior bachelor degree) so that also would have to do with who is chosen in sure.

And now that they created the priority ranking group I’m very curious as to how it will all turn out.

Interesting! I had no idea it was that helpful to be employed at a partner hospital!! I'm grateful to hear that!

I just got my blue card in the mail today from my appointment two weeks ago.

Frankly, I don’t feel great about my chances of getting in. I have a 7.638. I’m in patho right now and have pharm scheduled for this Summer. I am a veteran  and I’ve got a prior bachelor’s degree. I’m not in the area, so I’m not partnered....and I knew it would be an uphill fight to get in for Fall 21, but you miss every shot you didn’t take, right? So I applied with realistic expectations and my fingers crossed. I’m hoping I get in, but all the 8’s and 9’s are stressing me out! LOL!!

I’m happy for you guys, legitimately!! I’m impressed by some of y’all’s scores, and while I’ve got nothing but love for you guys, I just don’t think my 7.6 will make the cut for the campus based. There are sooooo many factors that play in to this that nobody seems to have definitive answers for...so I guess we find out in a few weeks!

I wish you all the absolute best of luck!

I also noticed many of us are applying but are applying for different programs. I am applying for the AO damn start and many are applying for the accelerated on campus program that starts in May. From what I’ve heard the on campus program scores are considered competitive in the 7.0 and above range.

I am not sure what a competitive score I’m actually is for the AO program would be?

@Alycia You’re absolutely right! I’ve read stats all across the board so I would stay hopeful and also your score seems competitive to me! I am also nervous about some of the scores. I also don’t feel as competitive as others, but in 20 days I’ll find out if I’m part of the fall cohort or not!
