UTA Fall 2013

Nursing Students Texas (UTA)

Published

I thought I would start a thread for those applying to UTA for Fall 2013; AP or on-campus. I will be applying to both and am hoping to find a job at a partnered hospital before the January 5, 2012 deadline.

I just had a quick question about the background checks... on my acceptance letter it says that it is due May 10th but on another form a date range is given: May 10th - August something. Again, I haven't heard back from my advisor yet, so I'm wondering if I have to do it before May 10th or after.[/quote']

The admin at the school whose name appeared all over my on campus paperwork said that it had to be requested by May 10th.

Hi All

the background check has to requested and reported back by May 10th, meaning the school must have the results by that date.

From the acceptance email:

Pharmacology/Pathophysiology

Students who are currently enrolled in Pharmacology and/or Pathophysiology in the spring or summer terms and failed to earn a grade of "C" or above will not be eligible to enter UT Arlington's Nursing program in the 2013 Fall term. For the policy in its entirety, refer to the "Bachelor of Science in Nursing Policies (pre-licensure); Failure of Pre-Nursing Courses policy.

I'm guessing the person failed pharm last year.... and fyi everyone including me thinks pharm is harder... I'm taking it online right now which helps but it still a bit of a challenge.

ANy of the AP students still have to take Pharmacology?

If so what class are you getting into? I have to retake it, while I passed my test average was a 68 so ulitimately I failed. My advisor has been very little help in this situation.

I'm taking it in May. Can you retake before the fall semester starts? Why are you not doing very good in Pharm?

According to the policy, no.

Failure of Pre-Nursing Courses

Policy refers to the two BSN prerequisite lower-division pre-nursing courses (Pathophysiology or Pharmacology) and all upper-division nursing courses.

Upper-division program applicants earning a grade of D or F in the term directly following the BSN application deadline, if accepted, may not start the upper-division nursing program even if the course is retaken and passed during subsequent term. Applicants must re-apply for the following application period.

Ugh. Lovely. I have to take it with statistics. Double whammy.

You are a brave person..... In pharm fill out the drug templates, I used the RRD and the book( the drug reference had some different stuff that confuses you during the tests). They were a big help, also you have to read the text. It seemed that the majority of the test questions were answers straight out of the text.

So I submitted my background check application this evening... after I submitted it, I realized that UTA requires an electronic signature. (Why does everything have to be such a hassle?) So, I emailed the company since obviously nobody answered the phone at this hour. I did not see instructions on where or how to do this on the application. Any advice? I'm sure I will hear back from Group One tomorrow...hopefully.

I also was wait listed. Not partnered, 3.4 overall; 3.5 science. 98 HESI, 1 consideration-previous Bachelors. Trying to decide about retaking my Chemistry for Spring application. I got a C but it was in 1997 when I didn't study very much at Texas Tech:) that would bring me to a 3.55 overall and 4.0 science

Let me know what they say. I submitted mine on Friday I think and I don't/didn't remember the electronic signature part.
