UTA Fall 2013

Nursing Students Texas (UTA)

Published

I thought I would start a thread for those applying to UTA for Fall 2013; AP or on-campus. I will be applying to both and am hoping to find a job at a partnered hospital before the January 5, 2012 deadline.

I think they try to give you your preference choice (city), but I doubt you can choose which hospital. Maybe I'm wrong!

I'm also from Houston. It would be awesome if we were in the same cohort!

I know right? That would be great!!!!!! They may put us in the same cohort if we cannot choose the hospitals ourselves. But would love to choose the hospital closest to home for me though, to save on all that long drive, we'll see what happens, fingers crossed :-)

Stash,

You said the Houston partnership hospitals are Brazosport Regional Med Center in Lake Jackson and Bayshore Reg. Med Center in Pasadena...how do you know? Did you ask someone or did you find this on the CON website? I have been looking for clinical location info everywhere, and I can't find any hospitals listed. My advisor has not returned my email yet. Thanks! (Lake Jackson is 1-1/2 hour drive from my house! :-(

Hi

Yes I asked someone at the school, the person on our emails that we are supposed to contact and she gave me those 2 hospital names.

Tell me about the long drive, also very far for me too, hoping they put us in locations closer to our homes.

Let me know if you find out anything too

An interesting piece of information I got today... I spoke with my advisor and she said it is very rare for people to get into both programs, which I did. However, she said that they do put a lot of weight on the considerations because, it being a UTA program, they want to keep UTA students. So I have a previous degree and 30 prereq hours at UTA. If I was weighed against someone else with a previous degree from somewhere else and 30 hours at UTA, I would get preference because my degree is from UTA. I had figured as much but my advisor confirmed it.

I think my degree from UTA is what got me into the on campus program. Had my overall GPA been better maybe I could have gotten into the AP program instead of wait listed. I wish that they would have taken 30 prerequisites as a whole instead of just nursing prerequisites.

What was your overall gpa? Mine was only a 3.25 but my science is 4.0. And I just barely had exactly 30 prerequisite hours. Like, I has EXACTLY 30 hours. I was afraid they might overlook them.

3.6 so that 2nd consideration weighs heavily. I think after the 4 I took this semester I have 30. I am good with on campus now and actually looking forward to it; AP just would have been easier with my kids since one is not in school yet. I have lots of family that have offered to help so it works.

Well, at least you have the on campus option to fall back on. Great job!

My previous degree was not from UTA, but I got into the AP program. I also had exactly 30 credit hours from UTA when I applied.

So the mystery of how they rank is still unsolved, haha :)

But how was your gpa, violach? I got in, but somehow I keep feeling like there are many people who should have been accepted and didn't, people with better stats than me :/
