UTA FALL 2012

Published

Hey all, I thought I would set up a place to discuss the next application period for UTA's Fall 2012 nursing program. There was so much info in the Spring 2012 forum, thought it might be helpful to start a new thread...

Post away!

@tah0009 It is such a frustrating process! I applied to anything and everything, including cashier in the cafeteria, housekeeping, etc. I never got called for anything until the admissions position. I applied on the 8th, interviewed on the 12th, and was offered the job on the spot. Every position I applied for back in the winter and this month I would watch the status change from "application received" to "not selected for an interview" over and over again. It is so frustrating!! Or I would get an email immediately after I applied that said "this position has already been filled" Ugh! Keep trying, and apply to all of their locations that are within driving distance. Also apply at JPS, Cook, etc. Something will come of it!!! I wish you lots of luck!!!

I work in admissions at HMFW also Nikki! How exciting! Maybe if we both get in together we can help eachother out and study together!

That is awesome! Are you in the ER also?

Yes ma'am! For 5 whole years!

Very cool!!! Phyllis took me around and introduced me after my interview. Seems like there's lots of nice people! I have orientation on Mon and Tues next week, and am looking forward to getting started!

So I know that paydays are every other Friday....when was your most recent payday? Thanks in advance!

Hi everyone! Just checking in to see how everyone is doing! It's hard to imagine that we are one weekend away from finishing our first clinical rotation and 4 weeks away from finishing our first semester! I am happy to say we have completed one course, Health Promotions!

I'm glad to see everyone is still chatting and encouraging each other...you can do this! It truly is a lot of fun and an amazing journey.

I think the best thing so far are the folks I am with in my cohort, we are like a huge family and we encourage each other and help each other everyday. So, when you get accepted, know that you will have others in the program with you that you can encourage and help and they will do the same for you.

If anyone has any new questions or anything I can try and help answer, please let me know. I know when I was going through the process and orientation and even getting started I had a ton of questions. None are too silly or redundant...so ask away!

So I have a question, I'm not sure if anyone can answer but here it goes. My friends say that the first letters that goes out are the rejection letters. I'm not sure how they know this but thats just what I'm hearing. Is that true?

If you consider rejection letters including those who do no meet the requirements or clearly do not have a competitive GPA, then yes, I would venture to say that those folks would get their letters first. I will say that in this semester's group (who received lettes this past Fall) that was the case, more folks knew they weren't getting in than those of us who were told we did get in.

Here is my small slice of sanity / advice. Do not get bogged down in the logistics of whose letters go out first or when. You will drive yourself bonkers! If you don't believe me, look up the thread for UTA SPRING 2012, I and others have a gazillion posts re: just this... we practically went insane over when letters were going out and to who and when...it got a little crazy...haha..

Keep the faith and keep focused.

Struggling in Pharm/Patho (due to also taking Intro to Nursing and Nutrition)...Currently I have a "C" in both and would like to know if anyone has any advice on how to study for Pharm...Thanks!

I feel so naive...What is a partnered program and how do I apply? I am now learning that UTA usually considered those students that are partnered at a local hospital:(

Bailey,

It's so nice to see your postings with suggestions/comments for those that are new at this (like me)...I have applied for Fall 2012 and now I am so frustrated that my current grades at UTA Pharm/Patho are now "C's"...I know these grades will not be applied to this application but so frustrated/down if I do not get accepted this first time around. I do have a backup plan but looking at other posts gets me kind of nervous. What has been your experience? Again, thanks!

Don't feel naive, that's really why this website exists, to answer questions and discuss things... There was so much I didn't understand when I got started.

1) Yes, it is true that in the ACADEMIC PARTNERSHIP PROGRAM, students who work with a partnered facility are typically selected first...that's why the facilities are partnered with UTA. However, there are several non-partnered students who get selected too, so don't let that dash your hopes. Just know that to be selected over a partnered student you need to do very well in your pre-reqs.

2) I think you can call the number on the UTA Academic Partnership website and they will give you a list of the hospitals currently partnered with UTA.

Keep the faith and keep focused, it truly is worth it!
