UT Tyler RN to BSN Program

Updated:   Published

Anyone know if you have to have a certain number of years' hospital experience in order to be accepted in this program?

My wife is a 25 year diploma RN and I will be an ADN graduate (May 09), and when we move back to east Texas, we're both considering looking into this program (with the eventual goal being both of us as MSN).

Obviously, my wife has more than enough experience for whatever they require, but will I need to work for a period of time before I'm eligible for the program?

Thanks, east Texans! I miss you all dearly.:redbeathe

I will be going into my second semester at UTTyler Palestine campus this Fall. LVN-RN Transition.

Hey T0byzmom! I will be going into my third semester at UTTyler Palestine Campus. LVN-RN transition program this fall!! Summer sure went by FAST! Bortaz in LVN-RN you get credit for your time worked as an LVN which lets you not have to take a few classes but all the BSN programs are mixed in....RN-BSN, LVN-BSN and standard BSN. The two transition pathways just gives you credit for working and lightens the required courses somewhat.

I've been doing some research about on-line RN-BSN programs and noticed Texas Tech has a program that is approximately $200 per semester hour, while UTTyler's is about $600 per semester hour. If this is correct, why go through UTTyler's MINE program instead of Texas Tech's?

Any thoughts?

That is certainly something to consider. Especially if I end up having to pay for it. :o

Thanks for the info, Cametoitlate.

Cool liriel! I'm sure we'll bump into each other this fall...

Do you have to live in the area of Tyler to attend the lvn-rn online transition? I live in the Sherman area and was wondering if it would be possible to do the online and then clinicals.

rdop5388 - The LVN-RN transition is NOT an online program...but I do believe that most of the RN-BSN courses are online.

Hi there. So how is your program going? I went to the website and could not find what the pre-reqs were. Is it just A&P 1 and 2?

Much more than just A&P I and II. It is posted on their site. You need Chemistry, A&P I&II, Microbiology, Nutrition, Human Growth & Development, College Algebra, Statistics, History I&II, Government I&II, BCIS, Humanities, Fine Arts, English I&II and I think there are more but those are the few I remembered off the top of my head. Quite a few pre-reqs though.
