This is true. I am patient care tech for a med surg floor at UTSW. I decided to risk it and only put an application in for the specialty track because I didn't want to be considered for the other track. My classmate put in both specialty track and regular track and only got an interview for acute surgical (they are internal)

As someone who graduated in December w/ no offers for the Winter cohort + still hasn't got a job in this next cycle, I'd take whatever offer you get imo.

Just got an offer! I was very surprised because I didn't expect one until interviews were done.
