I'm starting this thread for anybody who applied to UT Southwestern's Summer 2022 Nurse Residency. Hoping we can keep each other updated. I selected critical care as my #1 choice and Labor & Delivery as my #2. Hoping we can keep each other updated. Good luck everybody!

Did anyone hear anything about background check/ reference check/ drug testing? I thought it's usually done before the start date but I haven't gotten any instructions about it.

When did you do them? I never got any email about it!! When did your recruiter reach out to you with instructions?

I did my background check back in March. Since I’m an internal employee transferring units I didn’t have to do an occupational health screen or drug test again. When I first started at utsw I had to do all of that like 2 weeks before my start date.

For those Summer cohorts, what did the orientation look like? Were the first few days classroom orientation the entire day?

Hello! I know this thread is from last year's Summer cohort, but I have an interview for the OR residency and wanted to get some info on how the interview process went, and how the OR residency is going for you now that you've almost completed the 12 months? Any and all info is appreciated!
