UT Southwestern Nurse Residency Summer 2022

I'm starting this thread for anybody who applied to UT Southwestern's Summer 2022 Nurse Residency. Hoping we can keep each other updated. I selected critical care as my #1 choice and Labor & Delivery as my #2. Hoping we can keep each other updated. Good luck everybody!

No I will be starting this October! Is that night+weekend diff? Do you know what the individual differential is for each night and weekend? Was not included in the offer letter so I just want to make sure!

Yes that’s night/weekend. I’m not sure about each but I think night was $5. You should reach out to the recruiter to be very sure on that. Yeah I remember it not being included in the offer. I start Summer and I wonder when we get to pick what shift we want to work on? Do you have any idea on that?

I asked about that part and he said after 2~3 weeks of training, you will start working on the floor both nights and days to see what works for you. Then after a few shifts, you will meet with the manager to discuss what your preference is!

Has anybody received word of a schedule for orientation week from their managers? I haven’t heard anything. Getting a little nervous since we’re only a week out. Also wondering if we have to come in person or get to do orientation online at home.

Hey! Yeah I was really wondering the same thing too!! Maybe we should reach out to the recruiter. I think orientation will be in person regardless but really not sure!

Nope! I received an email from my recruiter yesterday but that’s it. Did you receive something?

Yeah I did, something about remote orientation but haven’t clicked the link yet.

I'm a current OR resident.. and you'll be on a different structure than any other unit.... it's best to ask Barbara or other OR nurses. You can message me if you want to. Congrats ?
