Anyone here applied already?
Have you taken the NET exam?
I am new to this thread and received an acceptance some time last week. My interview was on March 5th. I would just wait because I know at least 50% of the people at the interview that day had applied to multiple nursing programs. I was also accepted to TWU and have not made up my mind which program I will attend. I can guarantee you that some spaces will open for people waitlisted. I have a graduate degree - 3.8 gpa. My undergrad gpa - 2.8, nursing prereq's - 3.49 and don't remember the science gpa. NET score in the 80's. I honestly believe there is no "method to the madness" as how they pick applicants to accept to the program
Thanks gretchrb! Can you tell us what our first semester will look like.. Like what days will we go to school and what times? When is class and lab? Thanks :)
I'm a first semester student right now.
The schedule we had was monday from 7:45am to 10:45am (then labs from 11 to 1 or 1:30 to 3:30)
Tuesday from 8 to 12 usually unless you have post-conference, practice HESIs, or other things scheduled (note: at the beginning of the semester be ready to be there from 8 to 4 or 5)
Thursday from 9am to 4pm
Friday from 8am to 12pm or 1pm to 5pm depending on the lab time you're assigned. These labs will be dropped when you start clinicals mid-semester.
Hope that helped!
Thank you so much for your advice...My main concern is patho I've heard horror stories, is it really that bad?
Funny you ask since all of the J1s are currently studying for the patho exam #3 which is tomorrow. This semester has been a little different... like Gretch said Dr. ****** is a really great prof... but she has had a lot on her plate this semester so it was hard balancing all of her classes. Unfortunately she hasn't been as available as she would've liked to be
But yes, it's hard course, but you learn alot from the prof. She knows her stuff and knows how to teach :) Hopefully she'll be less stretched in terms of workload this coming fall.

Wow, that was VERY helpful! Kind of gives the rest of us an idea of what to expect. I was just wondering though: do you sign up for your own classes? Like you get to pick them yourself or are they assigned to you at the start of the semester or at orientation?
I can already feel the insomnia creeping up LOL
Oh and does anyone work during school? I know this is a question that people ask all the time.. but I need to know.. Will I honestly have time for a job? Do they have jobs on campus?
I am quitting my full time office job effective 8/13/10. I want to focus fully on school. They said it would be difficult to work and go to school.
Thanks kimmy088! That's helpful! I was wondering if I should take patho over the summer and if it would help me at all. Is it going to be a waste of time and money? Also, how does the grading system work?
I guess you could take it and then see if you could exempt the class... or you could take it over the summer and take the one at UT... or you could not take it at all in the summer and wait. Basically, I didn't answer your question! sorry! I don't have an opinion on that one... some people said it was helpful to take the class before taking at UT, some people said it didn't help, some people said they learned more in their previous patho class than they did this one. I'd say not to waste your time/money and just take it at UT.

You need to physically register for your classes. However, they will tell you what classes you need to take... you have a set schedule throughout the whole program.

Yes, there are people who work, but they do not work many hours/have a job that is very flexible. Yes, like ausashd1 said it is hard to work and go to school at the same time. I would not encourage working while in this program.
