UT Houston (Fall 2014 applicants)

Hello Future Nurses,

Wanted to know if anyone was preparing to take the Hesi a2, and or applying to UT Houston before the Jan. 15, 2014 deadline for Fall 2014???? I would like to form a study forum!!

Hello All! I have applied for Summer and Fall 2014 at UTHSC as well. I was denied for Spring 2014 Admission, but thought I would try again. It seems that you never know with this school. Every time I call I get different answers to my questions. I am, like many, pursuing nursing as my second career. My stats are below:

Prereq GPA: 3.5

Science GPA: 4.0

HESI: Overall 92%

Reading 92%

A&P 92%

Math 94%

Vocabulary 84%

Grammar 98%

Critical Thinking 910

I was not completely surprised that I was denied because my transcripts from my previous degree are like a train wreck, but I am hoping they will not haunt me forever! I have also applied to TWU Houston for the Fall. Good Luck to everyone!

Don't do that to yourself... There is no rhyme or reason to the way that they pick the applicants. People with lesser and greater scores were admitted for the spring.

Either they are looking at some unknown factor on our applications, or it's totally random. I believe the latter.

Good luck to everyone and what I learned from last application period is to try and remain calm during the process. Also, don't put all of your eggs in one basket. Just because you have awesome grades and HESI scores does not guarantee you a spot (as sad as that is). It's out of your control, so apply to other schools.

Has anyone received a transcript evaluation yet?

Nope, not yet. I emailed the other day about my HESI score and TSI still being on my to do list though. The lady to responded about the HESI score said they were still working on entering stuff in and another lady removed my TSI requirement. Hopefully we will start getting our evaluations soon!

Keep in mind that they are also working on admitting the summer class right now, so they may be behind on fall apps.
