UT Houston (Fall 2014 applicants)

Published

Hello Future Nurses,

Wanted to know if anyone was preparing to take the Hesi a2, and or applying to UT Houston before the Jan. 15, 2014 deadline for Fall 2014???? I would like to form a study forum!!

Most definitely that's why I did not want to wait till I take my test to apply I wanted to get a head start and all.

Do the school consider a overall gpa for admissions? When I called I was told they do.

Honestly I was always told that they don't. However they did just change the entire program to pacesetter and possibly decided to incorporate overall GPA into the application process, who knows now...but in the past I've always heard they don't. I also went to the info session earlier this month and they didn't mention it

I noticed the two different types of BSN options they had. Okay.

@meganelaine93 and whomever knows:

When I did my application I tried to select Summer Start but it wouldn't let me do it so I selected Fall start instead. To be considered for Summer admission you have to select that on the application correct? Also is that a different deadline other than Fall deadline of Jan 15th?

Yes they are different apps for summer and fall. Summer deadline is December 1. Fall is January 15

Right. I saw that on the website.

Hi! do you guys know if they take into consideration which school you go to when looking at your application?

Hello,

I was wondering if someone could help me? Will the HESI A2 test cover chemistry, biology, and physics? On the UT Houston site it does not say those three subjects will be tested over but I fear they may show up. I just want to make sure I study them if they do! Thank you!!

I took HESI on Dec. 27 too. But it still says initiated on myth

Nneka95 I took mine the same day as you did. How did you do? Overall=82.80Math=90Anatomy=80Grammar=80Vocabulary=78Reading=86

Offices open back up on the 2nd I believe so that is when your scores should be updated.

I truly think they look at everything on your application. They say they look at prereq GPA, and science GPA which they really do, as well as HESI scores with decent CT scores. They do rely heavily on those but I definitely think they look at the whole person on the application. For example I would consider myself to have a low GPA (3.67 prereq and science) and I got in for spring. I had a decent hesi score (93 overall, 820 CT). But I went to UTA for all my prereqs including all sciences, while taking Bio 1 for one of my electives and taking 11 hours in the summer including 2 of my sciences in summer 1 and summer 2 and also taking a maymester. I also had a job throughout (they ask you to put work history on the app). So honestly yes keep your scores high as you can, but there are a lot of great applicants that didn't get in for spring that were well qualified. I truly think they look at where you took classes, when, how many at a time, work history, etc. because my scores were not in the high range.

Hello there. (: I thought I would share my HESI stats too. When I have a more accurate calculation of my GPA I will post that as well.

Hopefully people will start signing up soon and posting, because I know there is more people that come to this page. The lurkers. (;
