UT Health Pacesetter Summer 2019

Published

Was waiting for someone else to make this thread, but I'm too anxious!

I am applying for the Summer 2019 application cycle at UT Health Science in Houston.

Stats:

HESI Overall: 92.4

Nursing Pre-req GPA: 3.88

Science Pre-req GPA: 4.0

Cumulative GPA: 3.41

My science Pre-req is excluding Chemistry. I'll be taking that in the Spring along with a few last minute pre-reqs. I have 2 F's in random classes on my transcript from a few year ago when I lost my mode of transportation. Unfortunately that's bringing my cumulative GPA down. Still feel like I have a shot though, so I am applying!

I'll also be applying for UTMB Fall 2019, Lone Star Fall 2019, and reapplying to UT Health Fall 2019 (if need be).

Hi guys this is my first time applying to UTH, I have a general question about applying to multiple nursing schools. I noticed that the result date is April 15, but for TWU/UTMB fall semester it's March 15. UTH is the preferred school I'd like to go to but Im afraid of how competitive it is (my stats aren't terrible, don't worry). I was wondering if it's possible to approve the acceptance from TWU/UTMB then if I get accepted to UTH accept as well and drop the previous. Is that a possibility or am I bound to the programs with a earlier result date forever? I would assume there is a fee at least.

I applied and was accepted to three different programs for Spring 2019.

Each program had a different decision date and naturally results came out starting with my least desired school. I accepted the seat, then when I received my second acceptance I emailed the first program rescinding my decision and accepted the new seat offer, and once UTH accepted me (my first choice school), I did the same thing.

Both of my other programs were very understanding, supportive & appreciating that I took the time to notify them. I was also lucky in that neither of the other programs required a deposit like UTH does, so I was not out any money.

It happens all the time though and I'm sure a number of people put their names in multiple hats. Best of luck to you!!

UTH required you to pay a deposit? I thought I read on the Spring 2019 forum that they did away with it, but I could have read it wrong? Congrats on three acceptances that is amazing!

Thank you so much!

They did away with the interview portion a few years back & I *think* UTMB did away with their deposit (that could've been something we were all discussing on the board), but UTH required a $200 deposit to accept our seat, it does go toward tuition though!

That's probably a good thing to mention actually, when you get accepted you'll have to pay the deposit and then pay for fingerprinting and a drug screen pretty immediately. It caught some people off guard rightfully so, but it's something to be aware of so that y'all can plan ahead if need be!

Anybody know how late we can take the HESI for the application? I've gotta also take the TEAS for another school so I'd prefer to space them out.

I believe everything must be submitted by January 15.

CAN SOMEONE HELP ME!!!!

I asked UT HEALTH about chemistry course. The prerequisite transfer guide on their website used to say you can take chem1305/1105 or 1411 for HCC. Now it changed to 1405/1411. However, I am already taking 1305/1105. I called to ask whether they will still accept it and I didn't hear the answer clearly. THe lady got impatient and didn't want to answer me anymore. Does anyone know the answer? or can anyone call Ut Health administration for me, please... this is really important. If they still accept 1305/1105 then I don't have to choose another course for spring. I will be officially done with all my prerequisites.

HCC CHEM 1305/1105 is equivalent to CHEM 1405. Since HCC offers the course only as the lab and lecture separately, that's why it's named 1305/1105, together they are equivalent to CHEM 1405 that most other Texas institutions offer together as one 4 hour course

Alright so do they take General or Intro. Chem?

They accept both general and intro. HCC CHEM 1405 is intro and CHEM 1411 is general

Hey y'all!

I just took the HESI today, and did well overall, I suppose. Heres how I did:

Reading comprehension: 76%

Grammar: 92%

Vocabulary & knowledge: 98%

Anatomy & physiology: 100%

Math: 92%

Cumulative score: 91.6%

Also, I have a 4.0 GPA.

I'm really bummed about my reading score, so I'm thinking about retaking the exam (just that section). What do y'all think? I know you technically only need to make a 75% on each section, and my cumulative score is still an A, but it's super low and cutting it really close, in my opinion. Any advice or input would be greatly appreciated :)

I think your scores are competitive tbh especially with your GPA! Any tips for those of us who haven't taken it yet? Mine is scheduled for 12/22 and I am nervous!

If you do decide to retake the exam, you would have to retake all sections. UTH will not accept your reading comp score alone
