UT Health Pacesetter Summer 2019

Published

Was waiting for someone else to make this thread, but I'm too anxious!

I am applying for the Summer 2019 application cycle at UT Health Science in Houston.

Stats:

HESI Overall: 92.4

Nursing Pre-req GPA: 3.88

Science Pre-req GPA: 4.0

Cumulative GPA: 3.41

My science Pre-req is excluding Chemistry. I'll be taking that in the Spring along with a few last minute pre-reqs. I have 2 F's in random classes on my transcript from a few year ago when I lost my mode of transportation. Unfortunately that's bringing my cumulative GPA down. Still feel like I have a shot though, so I am applying!

I'll also be applying for UTMB Fall 2019, Lone Star Fall 2019, and reapplying to UT Health Fall 2019 (if need be).

Well I guess that's that. Maybe Monday...

The worst part is that now we have no idea when we will hear back, Friday was our best guess for the longest time

I know. Now it literally could be any day :( I have a test Monday, and I really don't wanna find out that I've been denied and then have to take a Statistics test.

Thank Kelsey,

Your schedule previously posted here also gives me an idea of how I can work my schedule around.

It's almost 5pm and still nothing... this has been the longest day to me so far

Of course! Just keep in mind that summer is shorter so they may have to make up for it with longer class times. I’m not 100% about that but it’s rumored around the school for sure!!

They’ll get back to you before March 15th for sure because anyone denied will be reapplying for Fall most likely and they don’t want them to miss that deadline.

I’m sure y’all will hear by Monday! There was a faculty meeting today that was pretty long so I can see why they may not have been able to finalize things and hit send today ?

As difficult as it’s going to be, don’t even check Monday until after your test. For fall, I checked before I took my first test in my summer class so I had it hanging over my head the whole time.

PS: For anyone who doesn’t receive a notification at the same time as others, if you plan on reapplying, start working on submitting your new application. I don’t want to be a debbie downer AT ALL, but most waitlists end in denial so I’d hate for you to miss the deadline to reapply. Some “nice to know” friendly advice because of course y’all will be accepted?

Well hopefully we hear back on Monday. The last cohort did hear back on a Monday so there’s some hope ? goodnight everyone!

Hiii everyone!! I completely avoided allnurses today until the business day was way over lol. Then went into the portal to see it still said Application under review and worried that they had sent out acceptances and I had just not gotten in!! Lol but now I see there have been no acceptances sent out so I guess we can hope that Monday is the day!!. I went on a campus tour at UTH and the person who gave the tour was an S2 student. He said that last cycle had 1600 Applicants (geez!!) although I’m not sure if by last he meant spring or summer. Also he mentioned that UTH gets so many applications that they basically get their pick of the litter and he said that as long as you meet the requirements you get thrown in a pile and they randomly pick people from that pile. He made it seem as if that is why some 4.0’s don’t get in while others with lower GPA’s do. I don’t know how accurate that is or exactly what insight he has on the application process but that was what he said. So I just figured I’d pass on any information I could!! Here’s to hoping that Monday is the day!! I hope everyone has a great weekend!! I’m sure I’ll be on here checking allnurses sporadically lol.

Randomly?? I really hope that’s not true. They have to have some kind of systematic way that they pick applicants. Picking randomly just doesn’t seem right. ?

It better not be totally random..? But I guess it would make sense as to how nobody can figure out the criteria lol.

Yea the way he said it was like that the pile is made up of all the qualified applicants and that since UTH gets so many applications they have ALOT of qualified applicants to pick from. But like I said who knows how accurate that statement is or if it’s just his own thoughts on the application process. He also mentioned how there have been students who pass nursing school with a 4.0 but end up not necessarily being the best nurses. He mentioned that right after the other statement so idk if he was saying he thought UTH might consider the fact that not everyone who is academically smart would make good nurses so they attempt to accept diverse stats? Idk lol but it’s really all conjecture because it seems that no ones knows for sure. But I figure any little bit of information Is helpful. Unless it confused anyone else more or made anyone more anxious then I’m sorry!! Definitely not my intention.
