Was waiting for someone else to make this thread, but I'm too anxious!
I am applying for the Summer 2019 application cycle at UT Health Science in Houston.
Stats:
HESI Overall: 92.4
Nursing Pre-req GPA: 3.88
Science Pre-req GPA: 4.0
Cumulative GPA: 3.41
My science Pre-req is excluding Chemistry. I'll be taking that in the Spring along with a few last minute pre-reqs. I have 2 F's in random classes on my transcript from a few year ago when I lost my mode of transportation. Unfortunately that's bringing my cumulative GPA down. Still feel like I have a shot though, so I am applying!
I'll also be applying for UTMB Fall 2019, Lone Star Fall 2019, and reapplying to UT Health Fall 2019 (if need be).

There’s a 50% off student discount for anyone (so ya know, everyone) interested! It’s really nice because I don’t have to worry about driving myself, I can use that time to study/do homework AND they use HOV so I get there relatively quickly!
There IS housing available but you get put on a waiting list that also includes the schools of medicine and dentistry (but they get priority since their programs are longer). So it’s not a good idea to bet on it. You could definitely look for an apartment nearby though! Several people I know live in the area ?
I somehow missed this, but taking the Metro is such a great idea! Especially since you get to study. I had no idea they did 50% off so thanks for letting us know, I would have never even considered this.
Again, thank you so much for sharing all your info. It's so awesome you're helping out future students with what you know! ?

But it is what it is, can't do anything about it except keep moving towards that goal. ?
From the bottom of my heart, don’t worry!!!! It’s so much easier said than done, YES. But let me tell you how far worrying didn’t get me as some inspiration to not do it (but I love your attitude btw!) lol
I applied for the Fall and was waitlisted, got my hopes (and worries!!!) up, just to be denied in the end. TOTAL vibe killer indeed.
Then I applied again for Spring, THANKFULLY got in, met some truly incredible friends (who are basically family tbh) but ended up in my current situation of not having passed the D&S exam... due to worrying.
Not passing sent me into a (thankfully short-lived) highly depressed state for the duration of the weekend that followed my official “didn’t pass” status. ALL I did was bawl my eyes out, worry and lament over what happened.
Then that following Monday came. I walked into school with a list of “pros” in my head and was greeted by my lovely family of friends. I knew they were all concerned about me but did their best not to show it because I wasn’t showing it.
I had moved on and stopped worrying.
Moral of this beautiful story: no matter the outcome, don’t worry. Give yourself time to process the situation (good or bad) and if it’s not the outcome you’d have liked, get your head back on straight, pick yourself up and try again. :) Just because they decide “you weren’t good enough” doesn’t mean you’re not. I’m a perfect (highly imperfect though lol) example of that. Face your adversity head on and treat it like a speed bump instead of a mountain.
If you’ve read this far, major props to you, I hope you enjoyed my pep talk story and I love you all?You can do anything you set your mind to.

Yes! I had no idea either until I looked into it a little more!! There’s a Park and Ride location (the Cypress location!) pretty close to my house so I’ve always known about it, just not the finer details!
But yes of course!!! I’m going to be a part of y’all’s cohort now and I truly hope to be 1 of the 2 elected cohort student reps for you guys so I do want it to be obvious how much I care and can help!! ? y’all will learn more about that from me at the meet and greet though!! All the more incentive to join us once acceptances go out?

Reading this is exactly what I needed! I was wait listed for the spring, and I completely got my hopes up thinking I wasn't good enough. But in reality I'm kind of glad I didn't get in because I wasn't in the right place mentally. So I'm crossing my fingers and hoping for the best this time around!

That was the exact same mentality I adopted! It took some time for me to realize I wasn’t ready for it mentally and it just “wasn’t my time” to be accepted. The situation I’m in now sucks because I’m there already, yes, but I’m watching my family of friends do clinicals and I can’t. By fall I’ll be separated from them entirely which hurts a lot, but I’ve got wonderful people like you guys to keep me smiling :) Basically, I got accepted and it wasn’t even my time and that’s fine! I just get more time to enjoy this beautiful school and the amazing staff!?Oh, and of course meet all of you lovely individuals as well!!!!!
Happy Friday everyone?I hope you all have a wonderful weekend! I have work today so I may be slightly MIA but I’ll check in tonight in case anyone has new questions :) much love as always!!!
Hi Guys,
I just wanted to join this forum, even though I am applying for Fall 2019. I have a quick question tho, I took the HESI under the UTH code but it appears under my to-do list along with my transcript which I sent electronically from my school. They both state "Initiated" as the status. Can someone help me understand this lol, this is my first time applying there. Thank you!

Hey!! First, congrats on applying for Fall!!! I hope to hear the news that you got in!!!
In answer to your question: They’re in “initiated” status and will probably bug you for a good long while lol I STILL had my final transcript in “initiated” status for the longest time, then it became “overdue” and has stayed that way even though I’m accepted and taking classes currently?
Props to you for reaching out love, but unfortunately it’s just a weird thing (almost like a glitch i guess?) that’s pretty common. Double check with Mrs. Mendoza (her number and email are on the UTH website!) if you’d like to get a more concrete answer closer to the deadline (she gets a little annoyed if you reach out too early ironically)! That way you can still resend it (your transcript!) if there’s any issues! ? Your HESI scores should be sent in by the facility by the end of the month you took it in so you shouldn’t be worried there ?
Best of luck to you again!! If you want to stay connected once this forum dies out (for questions/advice/anything!) my facebook and instagram are linked to my profile on here! Don’t hesistate to reach out?

PS! If the deadline to apply is still March 15th and you haven’t seen a Fall 2019 forum yet, you should totally start one!! It shows major initiative on your part and will help you get connected with the other applicants☺️
Good luck again!!!

Your journey to being a nurse is going to be a little different, but that's okay. The end game is becoming an RN and that's the only thing that matters!
Thanks for all your words of encouragement. I was also wait listed and denied already so my hopes aren't as high as they were last semester. I'll take your advise and do my best not to worry!

My scores are all good except for my overall GPA so this kind of worries me. I worked my butt off to get As while working full time for my pre reqs because being in the medical field is truly a dream of mine. But it is what it is, can't do anything about it except keep moving towards that goal. ?
