UT Health Pacesetter Summer 2019

Published

Was waiting for someone else to make this thread, but I'm too anxious!

I am applying for the Summer 2019 application cycle at UT Health Science in Houston.

Stats:

HESI Overall: 92.4

Nursing Pre-req GPA: 3.88

Science Pre-req GPA: 4.0

Cumulative GPA: 3.41

My science Pre-req is excluding Chemistry. I'll be taking that in the Spring along with a few last minute pre-reqs. I have 2 F's in random classes on my transcript from a few year ago when I lost my mode of transportation. Unfortunately that's bringing my cumulative GPA down. Still feel like I have a shot though, so I am applying!

I'll also be applying for UTMB Fall 2019, Lone Star Fall 2019, and reapplying to UT Health Fall 2019 (if need be).

Luuuucky! I have a business statistics course from my first business undergrad and they wouldn't accept it in place of the "intro math stats" they have on their transfer guide. I am unfortunately taking a second stats class now lol.

Oh yea that sucks lol. Statistics was ok but I’ve never been a math person lol. So I feel your pain.

I emailed the school today and I received a quick response. I was super surprised. After receiving my transcript eval, I noticed that I didn't have my nutrition qualification filled. However, my undergrad is in nutrition and it was completed with upper-level nutrition courses and not the base level course. I hope they will accept one of the other courses. I also had a missing transcript and sent in an unofficial and let them know I had resent the missing transcript. It just stinks bc the transcript was cleared from my checklist.

I just want to make sure i got this right. So i applied to the UT HEALTH summer session program and i received my transcript evaluation and it says i haven't completed the Sociology course. I discovered this after i sent in the application. anyway, I am in the process of completing it now. I should be done in the beginning of may. Anyone know if this is going to get my application tossed or do I still have a chance if i complete it by then?

As long as you have the required 40 credit hours, including the 8 science hours, when you applied and complete the remaining courses before the start of the semester you should be fine. Good luck!!

That is so crazy how you can have a degree in Nutrition and yet not have the Nutrition credit filled. Ridiculous!

Finally got my transcript eval and

overall GPA is 3.657

nursing pre req GPA is 3.807

science GPA 3.916

My overall GPA is lower than I would like due to my dual credit classes in high school. But I am still hopeful because of my high pre requisite gpa

Please don’t shoot the messenger (me!!) but they actually won’t take one of the higher level courses. ? The same thing happened with several friends in my cohort, being that they had to retake Chemistry because they took one higher than required.

And yes in response to another post May 20th is the start date! (I know this because I really only get 8 true days off between spring and summer semesters which is absolutely tragic but also exactly what I asked for?)

Kelsey, Any idea when they send out acceptance letters? Website says April but Ive heard rumors it may be earlier.

Is anyone else taking classes that have finals May 12th? Or around that time? I’m taking 3 classes that will be done around that time in May. I worry that I won’t be able to get the final transcript in on time.

Her response was that “it shouldn’t be an issue with the admission review process”. However, I am prepared to retake the course. So I will have (3) 8 week classes to take (philosophy, sociology, & nutrition). I just wish I had an admission decision before spending the money. I was accepted to another program at a private university, but the tuition is outrageous!

I think the admissions decision should be out by the end of February to the beginning of March which should give you enough time to hopefully sign up for classes. That’s assuming that the 8 week classes you are referring to start mid March. I am keeping my fingers crossed that it all works out for you!

I have a few that end around then too. I usually just get with my professor's and let them know my strict deadline and they've always been accommodating in getting my grades input ASAP! I had a minimester that ended January 11, so I know how it feels to really push it close to a deadline ?

I believe since you are taking the course right now that you're transcript should say "in progress" on the applyUTH site, but you should be good as long as you get the updated transcript sent in.
