Was waiting for someone else to make this thread, but I'm too anxious!
I am applying for the Summer 2019 application cycle at UT Health Science in Houston.
Stats:
HESI Overall: 92.4
Nursing Pre-req GPA: 3.88
Science Pre-req GPA: 4.0
Cumulative GPA: 3.41
My science Pre-req is excluding Chemistry. I'll be taking that in the Spring along with a few last minute pre-reqs. I have 2 F's in random classes on my transcript from a few year ago when I lost my mode of transportation. Unfortunately that's bringing my cumulative GPA down. Still feel like I have a shot though, so I am applying!
I'll also be applying for UTMB Fall 2019, Lone Star Fall 2019, and reapplying to UT Health Fall 2019 (if need be).
The art and the psychology. But I took an art history class which they said would fulfill that requirement and my psychology class was titled life span development which I feel is equivalent to growth and development so I feel as though it should count also. Hopefully they feel the same when I call. I emailed them and attached course descriptions just in case but I’ll definitely be calling first thing on Monday.
I know they are super picky about lifespan! I applied to UTMB and they had a note on their transfer guide the specifically says they don't accept the life span class offered at Texas A&M because the course doesn't cover the entire lifespan and encouraged student to take it at Blinn.
Sending them the course description is the perfect start, I really hope it works out! If not, try looking at taking it through Houston Community College or Dallas County Community College if they accept their courses. Both schools offer online courses and offer some of those in 8 week courses so you would still have time to take it in the second 8week session in time for Summer admission!
Yes thank you BlondeBSN if they end up not accepting it I will definitely do that. As long as they at least accept the art history class I would feel ok because that puts me over the 40hrs and still in the running to be accepted and I have time to squeeze in psychology. Ohh and I forgot to update and let you know that they did not count my chemistry grade for my science gpa!!! ? which is great so hopefully I can get this sorted out!!

Awesome!! Would you happen to know if they counted your nutrition class in the science prereq? I cannot for the life of my find the evaluation I was sent a few months ago! UTMB counts nutrition in the science prereq so I was curious if UTH does the same!
I’m not sure if it counts yet because I’m actually taking it now at Lonestar so on my transcript evaluation it just says that it’s in progress. But I always thought their science prerequisites were just A&P 1 and 2, micro, and chem? Hopefully your able to find it or someone else can chime in with a response!
I was thinking the same, but at HCC where I took nutrition, it's a Biology course so I wondered whether or not it was counted in that or not. I got an eval when I first applied back in October so I've been keeping my eyes out for another evaluation with my Fall 18 grades, but I'm not sure if they'll send me a new one since I got one before ?♀️
Oh ok yea I’m pretty sure it’s just those 4 and nutrition I think is just another nursing prerequisite. Also, i’ve heard of people getting multiple evaluations through the application process so it’s still possible you may get one although even if you do it may not come in time for you to get a definitive answer before we hear about results since we should be hearing back in the next few weeks hopefully.
Yea those dates sound about right. I had went back and reread the 2017 and 2018 forums and that sounds about right. Fingers crossed it’s that soon because that’s right around the corner!!

Definitely call them, yes!! I had an issue with my Psych class as well but it was due to it being an AP credit from high school. I took the art history class as well and had no issues so I’m not sure why they’re flagging it. Let me know what they say on Monday after you call! I’ll help in any way I can ?
The course ID says Art history and the title of the class is renaissance and baroque Art. But I don’t see why they wouldn’t accept it just because it’s from that specific time era.
I’m a little discouraged. I received my transcript evaluation & somehow my overall GPA went down to a 3.3. I just graduated from Texas Tech Cum Laude. So I’m a little confused. They also are requesting a transcript that I sent in already and was cleared from the check list. The transcript is for my military credits and doesn’t affect My GPA.
Any know if they will accept the transcript if I resend it?

By overall do you mean the GPA for your entire college career? Maybe they somehow missed a grade or didn’t input a grade correctly which is causing the discrepancy in your transcript. Or were you adding in grades they had yet to receive like in progress course work? Regardless of the reason don’t let that discourage you! A 3.3 GPA is great and it’s just one small aspect of your application. I’ve even seen people say they don’t weigh the overall into their decision. And the fact you got cum laude is a huge accomplishment!! So many things to be proud of!! As far as the military credits are you depending on those credits to meet the 40 hrs or to count for the 60 hrs of nursing prerequisites? I would say they may not accept it because the deadline has passed but I would call first thing Monday morning and ask them. If someone tells you they won’t accept it I would honestly maybe even call again and verify with someone else because sometimes different people give different info. I would also just send it in again just in case. The fact that they cleared it may just mean this is all a big mistake!! Let us know what they say and I hope it all works out!!
