UT Health Pacesetter Summer 2019

Published

Was waiting for someone else to make this thread, but I'm too anxious!

I am applying for the Summer 2019 application cycle at UT Health Science in Houston.

Stats:

HESI Overall: 92.4

Nursing Pre-req GPA: 3.88

Science Pre-req GPA: 4.0

Cumulative GPA: 3.41

My science Pre-req is excluding Chemistry. I'll be taking that in the Spring along with a few last minute pre-reqs. I have 2 F's in random classes on my transcript from a few year ago when I lost my mode of transportation. Unfortunately that's bringing my cumulative GPA down. Still feel like I have a shot though, so I am applying!

I'll also be applying for UTMB Fall 2019, Lone Star Fall 2019, and reapplying to UT Health Fall 2019 (if need be).

Hello everyone! I just wanted to introduce myself because I’m a current student (just started this semester!), but I have a bit of a unique situation.

My name is Kelsey and I’m a J1 (you’ll learn about the class ranks soon enough). So I’m just going to jump into my situation and make a proposition! There’s a test within the first couple weeks called the D&S test (dosage and solutions). You get 3 chances to pass it with a 100% or else you’re unable to participate in clinicals. SO, I’m one of the unlucky 2 in my cohort that didn’t pass it unfortunately. Stupid mistakes really do make or break some things, y’all!!!

Anyways, I wanted to propose an idea to you guys! I’ll still be in all 4 of the regular J1 classes this semester, but I’ll be joining your cohort once you guys begin your J2 semester in the fall. I’m hoping to be one of the students on the panel for your boot camp (orientation) so you’ll all get the chance to meet me if you’re interested!

My idea was that I could start the facebook page once acceptance letters go out (since I already know everything that goes into it and I can add upperclassmen from my current cohort into it for advice!). Anyone that would be interested in helping me out with the facebook and in potentially representing the cohort, I’d love to touch base with you and get connected!!

I understand that it’s a lot to process, but I’m more than willing to help/give advice to anyone with J1 classes since I’ll already have finished them! ? I’ll be checking up on this thread periodically (in all my free time, ya know) to see how things are going and answer any questions y’all may have!

Good vibes to everyone in waiting for your acceptance letters!!! Can’t wait to meet you guys sooner than you think!!!?

This is so sweet of you to offer!! If I get accepted, I would love to help!

Hi Kelsey!!! That was a very kind thing for you to offer!! Hopefully we all get accepted and get the opportunity to meet you and see you around in school!!

Can you guys post your stats. I just want to have a better idea how competitive this cycle is?

Here are my stats

Cumulative GPA: 3.7

Science GPA: 4.0

Hesi: 90%

Is it true that the summer semester isn't as competitive than fall and spring?

My stats:

Cumulative GPA: 3.7

Prerequisite GPA: 3.8

Science GPA: 4.0

Hesi : 87

Spring and fall semester get well over a 1000 applicants, I think summer is about 600.

Then only thing is that I am taking all these prerequisites at Lonestar and it is my first time attending that school. I did send them the Lonestar transcript with all my in progress classes but they never got back to me on whether they received it or not and on myUTH I don’t have anything on my todo list which makes me think they haven’t even looked at it. I’ve emailed multiple people and places with no response. I may try calling Student affairs tomorrow and see if I have any luck. Thank you for your input!

Did you list Lonestar as a school you were attending when you applied? Was it originally on your to do list? It may not have been on there if this is your first semester there and you don't have coursework from them to be used during your application consideration. If it is just coursework that needs to be completed before the first day of class I could see why it isn't in your to do list.

I think I did put it on my application as a college I would be attending but I’m not 100% sure. There isn’t anywhere we can go to look at our application again is there? And no I don’t believe it was ever Originally on my todo list because when they received my two complete transcripts from my other schools and my HESI all my todos were gone before I even sent them my Lonestar transcript. I’m hoping they did receive it and have placed it in my file so that whoever looks it over can see I am retaking Chemistry. I would hate for that to be the reason why I’m not considered for admission.

Hi what were your stats? Like gpa & hesi scores

Sorry, I've been busy with the program, so haven't been on here in a long time it seems ?. I had a 4.0 for pre-reqs, 4.0 for science GPA, and a cumulative 3.72-3.75 GPA from my first two undergrad degrees. For HESI, I had an overall score of 98%. Hope that helps! I remember a few months ago driving myself crazy as well while waiting for the decisions to go out.

If I don’t get in, it’ll be because of my cumulative. But I still have hope!
