UT Health Pacesetter Summer 2019

Published

Was waiting for someone else to make this thread, but I'm too anxious!

I am applying for the Summer 2019 application cycle at UT Health Science in Houston.

Stats:

HESI Overall: 92.4

Nursing Pre-req GPA: 3.88

Science Pre-req GPA: 4.0

Cumulative GPA: 3.41

My science Pre-req is excluding Chemistry. I'll be taking that in the Spring along with a few last minute pre-reqs. I have 2 F's in random classes on my transcript from a few year ago when I lost my mode of transportation. Unfortunately that's bringing my cumulative GPA down. Still feel like I have a shot though, so I am applying!

I'll also be applying for UTMB Fall 2019, Lone Star Fall 2019, and reapplying to UT Health Fall 2019 (if need be).

I would just use the total points earned at both schools and total hours earned at both to get your cumulative. And yes from what I understand they count it as an A regardless if it is +/-, so your A would equal 4 points for a 1 hour class, 12 points for a 3 hour class and 16 points for a 4 hour class.

It’s weird because one of my colleges didn’t calculate the points on the transcript it just has my gpa. I had also applied to chamberlain and she did some quick math and got one GPA but when I got home and calculated the points and then the cumulative I got another GPA. So I’m not sure. I hope i did it right Becuz my calculation was higher ?

I have a question. I was just reading the fall 2015 UTH forum and someone mentioned how you have to have at least a C in all prerequisites to be considered? I was just wondering if that is true since I have not seen anything about that on their website. All I see are the minimum GPAs required.

I believe in Texas in order for a course to successfully fulfill a degree requirement you must earn a C or better, so that could very well be correct. I know when I got my first undergrad degree they wouldn't apply a D towards my degree, I had to retake the course.

Yes I think that is true. And if you’re accepted and you’re still taking prerequisites then you have to make at least a C in those classes when you sent your final transcripts or they'll will take back your acceptance and offer it to another. At least that’s what I was told. If I’m wrong someone please let me know.

Hello everyone! I just wanted to introduce myself because I’m a current student (just started this semester!), but I have a bit of a unique situation.

My name is Kelsey and I’m a J1 (you’ll learn about the class ranks soon enough). So I’m just going to jump into my situation and make a proposition! There’s a test within the first couple weeks called the D&S test (dosage and solutions). You get 3 chances to pass it with a 100% or else you’re unable to participate in clinicals. SO, I’m one of the unlucky 2 in my cohort that didn’t pass it unfortunately. Stupid mistakes really do make or break some things, y’all!!!

Anyways, I wanted to propose an idea to you guys! I’ll still be in all 4 of the regular J1 classes this semester, but I’ll be joining your cohort once you guys begin your J2 semester in the fall. I’m hoping to be one of the students on the panel for your boot camp (orientation) so you’ll all get the chance to meet me if you’re interested!

My idea was that I could start the facebook page once acceptance letters go out (since I already know everything that goes into it and I can add upperclassmen from my current cohort into it for advice!). Anyone that would be interested in helping me out with the facebook and in potentially representing the cohort, I’d love to touch base with you and get connected!!

I understand that it’s a lot to process, but I’m more than willing to help/give advice to anyone with J1 classes since I’ll already have finished them! ? I’ll be checking up on this thread periodically (in all my free time, ya know) to see how things are going and answer any questions y’all may have!

Good vibes to everyone in waiting for your acceptance letters!!! Can’t wait to meet you guys sooner than you think!!!?

Kelsey I would definitely be interested if I am accepted!

Well my issue is I got a D in chemistry back in 2012. However, I am currently retaking the class. So since I didn’t make the C requirement does that mean that chemistry class won’t count at all in my science GPA? Or will it still count but I just have to retake it again? I have already taken A&p 1 and 2 and micro and have A’s in all three so I would still meet the 8 hr science requirement I’m just wondering how they will factor that D into my science GPA.

Or if it will factor in at all? I feel like it’s wishful thinking that they won’t count it at all ? but I’ll wait for your guys response before I come back down to earth ?.

Hmm, I'm honestly not sure! They may count it, but if they see on your transcript that you're retaking it that may help your case! Since you already have the three other sciences I don't think it will disqualify you!

Then only thing is that I am taking all these prerequisites at Lonestar and it is my first time attending that school. I did send them the Lonestar transcript with all my in progress classes but they never got back to me on whether they received it or not and on myUTH I don’t have anything on my todo list which makes me think they haven’t even looked at it. I’ve emailed multiple people and places with no response. I may try calling Student affairs tomorrow and see if I have any luck. Thank you for your input!
