Was waiting for someone else to make this thread, but I'm too anxious!
I am applying for the Summer 2019 application cycle at UT Health Science in Houston.
Stats:
HESI Overall: 92.4
Nursing Pre-req GPA: 3.88
Science Pre-req GPA: 4.0
Cumulative GPA: 3.41
My science Pre-req is excluding Chemistry. I'll be taking that in the Spring along with a few last minute pre-reqs. I have 2 F's in random classes on my transcript from a few year ago when I lost my mode of transportation. Unfortunately that's bringing my cumulative GPA down. Still feel like I have a shot though, so I am applying!
I'll also be applying for UTMB Fall 2019, Lone Star Fall 2019, and reapplying to UT Health Fall 2019 (if need be).
Get the AP study book that the test provider sells. I had not taken AP 2 yet and feel like it really helped me prepare for those concepts. The focus on AP the most for that exam, but I would also suggest studying the vocab, those are all medical field related.
As far as certifications and volunteer hours, I don't think UT considers them. That's partly why I was trying to recall if the application included a resume or work history, just wondering do they take into consideration when applicants work full time while taking prereqs and things like that.
PS I know someone mentioned before that if you sent a transcript for Fall 18 grades but it has pending coursework for Spring 19 that it would still show on your to-do list. I did some digging around on the site and that does appear to be correct! I was freaking out thinking my transcripts didn't get to them, but now I guess I can only assume it is because I have coursework in progress for Spring 19.
The other thing is, I am retaking a lab in-person that I originally took online (before they added the verbiage to the site that says they don't accept online lab courses :( ). Should I reach out to someone at UT to point this out? I would hate to get denied based on something I wasn't previously aware of but am actively correcting, you know? I still don't even know how they know the difference TBH, especially since there were people in the Spring 19 forum who said they took there's online..
If they end up not counting that science class because they realize you took the lab online would you still meet the minimum requirements to apply? Like the 40hrs and the minimum 8 of sciences? If so I don’t think they would deny you because of that I just feel like they would put it as coursework you would have to complete before classes start just like any other prerequisite. I actually have a similar problem where I took a Chemistry class back in 2012 which I unfortunately got a D+ on and I’m assuming will be calculated into my science GPA. I am retaking it for the spring term but wonder if they think I’m just guna try to get by with a D in Chem and deny me because of that. I even sent them my transcript from Lonestar with my in progress classes including the chemistry in hopes that they would see that I’m retaking it but I don’t even think they’ve looked at that transcript. But I will still meet the minimum science requirements because I’ve completed A&P 1 and 2 and Micro. I feel it should be the same for you but do what you feel most comfortable with and what will put your mind at ease. I might end up calling about my situation too.

Also, do you guys have any certifications? I was wondering if getting a cpr certification or begin volunteering at a hospital will raise my chances. I know I only have a month left but I’m trying my best ensure a spot for the fall sem. My stats gpa wise are good 3.9 science gpa and 3.7 overal. I just hope its enough

Hi! I recommend the Pocketprep app. I paid the $15 to unlock all questions and it was worth it. I also used biologycorner.com. The powerpoints on there go into waaay more detail than the HESI review book. I just used the review book as a guide. I managed to score a 100 in the A&P section.

I deff recommend the Hesi study guide that the test provider sells. I took the Hesi after AP 1 but hadn't taken AP 2 so I was pretty worried about that section. I got an 85 on the AP section and really believe the study book helped me prepare for those concepts since I had not taken AP 2 yet. I know they are focused more on the AP part of the exam over all the othets, but I would also study the vocab as that is all medical field related as well. Good luck!
