UT Health Pacesetter Summer 2019

Published

Was waiting for someone else to make this thread, but I'm too anxious!

I am applying for the Summer 2019 application cycle at UT Health Science in Houston.

Stats:

HESI Overall: 92.4

Nursing Pre-req GPA: 3.88

Science Pre-req GPA: 4.0

Cumulative GPA: 3.41

My science Pre-req is excluding Chemistry. I'll be taking that in the Spring along with a few last minute pre-reqs. I have 2 F's in random classes on my transcript from a few year ago when I lost my mode of transportation. Unfortunately that's bringing my cumulative GPA down. Still feel like I have a shot though, so I am applying!

I'll also be applying for UTMB Fall 2019, Lone Star Fall 2019, and reapplying to UT Health Fall 2019 (if need be).

The site is always down from 6pm Saturday to I think 7pm Sunday for Maintenance.

I have a question! Is the to do list supposed to show completed items? Mine just has a 0 next to it and doesn’t let me click into it. I sent my transcripts and scores before actually submitting the application, so reading these comments is making me nervous since I’ve never actually seen anything on my to do list ?

My to do list also has 0’s on it and I can’t click into it. I think since you submitted everything prior to submitting your application they just never had to put you had anything due on your to do list since they probably already had everything once they received your application. When I first submitted my app I had my HESI score and transcripts pending but that was because I sent it after I did my application. Now, like I mentioned above, it shows just like it does for you.

Ah ok, thank you!!

On the website it says:

"2.75 GPA or higher in the required 60 hours of nursing prerequisites.

3.0 GPA or higher in the required science prerequisites.

HESI A2 Entrance Exam score report"

It says nothing about cumulative GPA, but several people have said they look at this. I keep getting mixed answers. Does anyone know if they use whats on their website or do they take into account your cumulative GPA?

My guess is they could look at cumulative gpa if their applicant pool is very close in the above mentioned criteria. But I don't believe it's their main focus. My cumulative is subpar due to how many classes I took when switching majors for my first undergrad degree, so I'm personally crossing my fingers they look past it lol

I think they look at it, unless there was something else in my transcript they didn't like. My stats are pretty high and I was wait listed and denied for the Spring. I have a 4.0 science, 3.9 pre req and my hesi was a 94 with a 100 in A&P. The problem is my overall was a 3.1 because of a previous degree. All those numbers are from their transcript evaluation as well.

Of course, I'm speculating so who knows. From what I've read, their process is pretty difficult to figure out.

Did you have any online labs for sciences? They don't accept them which alot of people weren't aware of previously. Otherwise you do have great stats! And yes I agree, it's not very clear cut what they look for. I've stopped trying to figure it out and just letting what will happen, happen ?

No, I took all my sciences face to face. I think we have to have that mentality to stay sane haha. The wait is so long and it's so hard to get in. But either ways good luck to all of us! ?

Per the email I received from them after signing up for emails:

“How Do I get In? The Pacesetter BSN Program is one of the most competitive admissions programs at the Cizik School of Nursing. The review process includes a careful review of all documents required including your transcripts and HESI scores. Each component of your application is reviewed including your overall cumulative GPA, HESI scores (with special emphasis on scores in Anatomy and Physiology), and grades earned in sciences and the regular prerequisites.”

I’d upload the screenshot, but it won’t let me.

I hope as well that Cumulative GPA is less important, as mine isn’t the best!

Can anyone recall if the application asked for a resume or work history? I applied back in October and can't remember.

I’m replanning to take the HESI before the apply to the Fall semester, does anybody have any tips for me? Especially how to study A&P! Also, do you guys have any certifications? I was wondering if getting a cpr certification or begin volunteering at a hospital will raise my chances. I know I only have a month left but I’m trying my best ensure a spot for the fall sem. My stats gpa wise are good 3.9 science gpa and 3.7 overal. I just hope its enough :(
