UT Arlington Fall 2020 Cohort

Nursing Students Texas (UTA)

Hello Everyone!!

It is finally my time to post to this forum! EXCITING!!! I did not see a thread for Fall 2020 and I might be SUUUUPER early but man that nursing application process takes proper a year doesn't it?

I am done with all my general courses and TEAS except for nursing chem, one elective (health and human disease), Patho, Pharm, and Intro to Nursing. I plan to take CHEM 1451 and HEED 4312 in the Fall 19 semester, apply in January, and then while waiting on that, take Patho and Intro to Nursing in Spring 2020 and Pharm by itself in Summer 2020.

I have an A in Micro, A&P 1, and A&P 2. This has been a LOOOONG journey and I cannot wait to start!

Not yet, I am working through the mometrix book. I took the practice test #1 and didn't do so hot LOL. I technically passed but I still want to aim for the highest grade possible just in case I apply to a school that takes the score into account.

For me, the Reading section of the TEAS was the hardest part for me. I had to take it twice to pass reading =(

Hello all, I too am looking to apply for Fall 2020. I still need a handful of classes but luckily all my vaccines were done while I was active duty.

If anyone is really good at A&P I would love a study partner. I took A&P I years ago when I was getting my BS in Psych but am a bit rusty.

Does anyone know the partnered hospitals in Houston?

I can definately relate to being rusty. I recieved my bachelors of science in bio in 2008 so its been a while since I have studied anatomy or physiology in depth. I have been reviewing AP 1 and AP 2 using the viewing Dr Parkers videos on youtube. If you go to her account you will find a playlist for AP1 and AP2. I also have a textbook for Anatomy and Physiology which I read to review.

This post lists the partnered hospitals.

For those of you who have taken the TEAS already, how long did it take you to study for it?

I am currently in the process of submitting the first application (transfer application because I already have a Bachelors Degree) for the AO-BSN program, looking to apply and enter for Fall 2020.

My GPA is sitting a little low in the 3.0s do you guys know anybody that's gotten in with a lower GPA and some considerations?

I'm also going to have to relocate soon, because I don't live in Texas, any suggestions on where I should relocate? Houston, Austin, or DFW?

Also does anybody know how the point system works? I'm a little confused about it. My admission counselor just keeps telling me to not worry much about my GPA due to my considerations, but I can't help but worry a little due to the competition i'm going up against.

From what I’ve read, 8/10 points is competitive but a lot of people still end up getting waitlisted with that unless they’re employed with one of the partnered hospitals. Houston has the biggest medical center of all 3 so there’s plenty of hospitals to choose from when you’re looking for a job but it takes about 1.5 hours to drive from one side of the city to the other without traffic bc it’s just that big, DFW will be near the school so you could potentially attend on campus instead of only applying for the online school. Austin is a fun city to be in, it’s smaller than the other two I think but it’s filled with younger people because of the graduates from UT relocating there after college. I’m from Houston so I don’t know a whole lot about DFW or Austin but I’ve been to those cities a few times. If you can, try to get a job at one of the partnered hospitals when you relocate. I’ve heard being partnered is the big golden ticket to getting in.

HEYYYYY Y'ALL ?

So I'm applying to the AO Fall 2020. I've already completed the first application awhile ago.

I'm currently taking AP2 and CHEM & already completed all immunizations.

I have 2 considerations

  • Previous bachelors degree from UTA
  • 30+ hrs earned at UTA

I still need to take PATHO, PHARM, INTRO. I plan on enrolling in a pre-nursing.

Hey! We might be buddies for Chem! Are you taking it online?

I forgot to mention I will have one consideration with my sciences once chem is done. Also, I need two more immunizations (last hep B and flu shot).

Aww no, i actually moved to Houston in June. I’m taking it at Houston Community College. That’s why I’m aiming for the AO program. I’ve lived in Arlington forever & I love it here in Houston. Plus I’m supper close to the Medical Center !! @FutureNurseOrcutt

Hey guys! I’m fairly new here just researching for my hubby who is planning to apply in UTA. He has AP 1 and 2 and Microbiology as well as Chem. Can he already apply for the AO Fall 2020 or does he need to finish all the rest of the other pre reqs before he can apply? Sorry but i am just so rusty about the terms here I just need some more input about application in UTA. Pls advise! Thanks!
