UT AE-MSN 2016

Hi all -

Just wondering who else is applying for the AE-MSN program at the University of Texas at Austin. I am applying to the psych NP track and super nervous about it! I know previous applicants did not hear back about interviews until early December and decisions until early February.

Emb, it was a blur to me too! I only know because I sent my husband a text message before the writing thing and then again when done, so I could estimate.

I fingerprint friday so I am not sure what kind of confirmation we can expect.

Where is everybody from??

I got a response from Tracy the same day I sent in a scan of my receipt, so I would email her just to make sure she got your receipt. I got my blue card in the mail about a week ago. Do they want us to send them a copy, or just hold on to it?

Also, out of curiosity, how many of you here are from Texas? Any Austin residents? I'm curious about the demographics. I'm from Texas, but not the Austin area, although a lot of my friends live there or went to UT for undergrad.

Just got an email saying I was waitlisted for PMHNP, but am being referred to leads. Anybody else?

I interviewed for the PMHNP track last week and I just got the offer to be considered for LeaDs track admission.

Is it their way of telling me my chances of getting into PMHNP are slim?

or are they just trying to get more people to apply to LeaDs?

I think I already know the answer... but does anyone know?

atx0306// got the same email from Tracy just now. She said I'm not officially waitlisted for PMHNP and they're just "making me an offer to be considered for a different track," but it probably is what you think it is, though.

Wow they are making moves quick with the NP decision. I would probably take a spot in Leads if they offered it to me. Not my preferred track, and I definitely still want to work in psych, but it still seems like there's a small possibility for lateral movement from Leads to FPMHNP.

Do y'all have other programs lined up as back up?

No backups this year. I intend to defer and this is the only program I am aware of allows that. Next year, if I don't get a spot this year, will be a different story. You?

I only applied to this program so I don't have a contingency plan, but I also did not receive the same email that offered the Leads spot so I'm holding out hope that I still have a shot. If I don't get in, but get offered Leads I will probably go that route. If I don't get offered a spot at all I will likely seek out further employment experience that will make me a more desirable candidate.

Why would you defer? I thought they only allowed deferred admission in case of a family emergency or other unforeseen circumstances that would prevent you from starting classes on time.

I am currently in a master's program. I could double up if I had to in order to graduate prior to matriculation... but the field experience would really, really suck. I have not been informed that deferment is contingent upon an unforeseen crisis, though I have been wrong before :D
