UT AE MSN 2015

Published

Hi all! I know this is a bit early, considering the application doesn't even go live until August 1, but UT is my number one school for Nursing. I just graduated from UGA with a BS in Psychology, and have around a 3.5 GPA. I have yet to take the GRE. I also am going to get a CNA certification and work for a year (hopefully in MedSurg) as well as shadow a family friend who is a Pediatric nurse. Many years before us have started a thread so I figured it would be a good idea to start one! I would really like to go into their Nurse Practitioner program, but as of right now there are some changes going on that said would be solidified in the fall.

Any feedback would be wonderful! As well as personal experience and what not!

I'm feeling uber nervous AustinTex. What time is your interview? I wish I knew what to expect. Mine is at 9am.

Mine is at 9am, too!

Oh wow. I'd say we could grab coffee afterward but I have to go to work :( using pto to make the interview! Best of luck!!!

Did anyone else get the idea that there are only FOUR spots available for NP? Or was that just me? I might have misunderstood......

What I *think* I heard was that there are 8 spots for MSN NP and 8 spots for AE-MSN NP, so total of 16 psych students. But what I'm confused about is if that is the total number of NEW available spots, or total number of students period during years 1 thru 3. Not sure. If anyone else is able to clarify that, please do! Thanks! Good luck with all the interviews; nothing to be too nervous about at all!

Hey AustinTex,

So I didn't get a good read on how many spots for the psych NP but I do have additional information if you want to PM (though I'm not even sure how that works). So I'm also confused about all the programs and number of spots. I asked but they couldn't divulge specifics. IT appears there were 26 interviews done this week and they informed me that they would be "finished" with interviews. So I'm assuming they have no yet interviewed Leads candidates..... but only CNS and NP? If so that appears to be a good outlook for us.... thoughts comments?

Also couldn't really guage how many interview went...decent...? I felt normal about it but in no way "oh yeah I got in!"

Hope we find out ASAP (like january :) )/.

The info I received at the information session on Thursday was that there going to be 64 students total. the least amount going to NP, double NP number to CNS, and the remaining to LeaDs which was said to have more seats than CNS. So, if the magic number for NP is 8, then there would be 16 seats in CNS. But that would only leave a couple of spots for those being wait listed which doesn't seem right. But perhaps I took the information too literally and there isn't exactly double the amount of CNS as NP. Although, the word double was used.

That actually seems like it could make sense to me....then there might be one wait-listed for NP and one for CNS? Who knows! And she did say that they were able to move from 12 seats to 16 seats this year (half MSN, half AE-MSN), but again I'm just not sure if that means open seats, or that's how many students there are total (including those already enrolled in the program) and there is only a portion of those seats to fill.....maybe others will get more info tomorrow.

Anyone else having trouble logging into the background check website that was sent for our fast pass?

LeaDs interviews have gone out. We have to schedule them between now and the 17th. Would appreciate some feedback on everyone's interviews!

Hi everyone! I also applied for the family psych/mental health np program and had my interview this morning. Ah! I was a ball of nerves and wished some of my answers were a bit more polished but my interviewer was encouraging and overall I feel good about it.

During the info session, they said that the psych NP program has 60 applicants of which 22 were interviewed. There will be 8 available spots for AE MSN psych NP applicants for the 2015-entering class. Unfortunately I don't have any information on the CNS program.

Now the waiting game begins. Good luck to everyone!

If there are 8 spots for NP that means that, provided the info I received is correct, 16 seats in CNS and then remaining of 64 to LeaDs.
