I just got accepted into UT's Alternate Entry MSN Program for Child Health. Just wanted to see if anyone else is in the class starting Summer 2009!

I did too! WOO HOO! (I'm assuming you checked on the GIAC website too?) I think if they didn't update it soon, I was going to go out of my mind haha!
I got accepted into the CNS route. Right now I am picking between a few schools (one is a ABSN, one is a BSN/MSN and now the UT AEMSN), but UT was one of my top 2 choices, so I am definitely HIGHLY considering it (about 90% sure)!
I'd be moving from California, so it'd be a big move but my boyfriend is in Austin which is a nice benefit ;-)
How about you?? I'd also like to get to know some of my future class mates :-)
On a side note: There isn't as much buzz on this forum about the program I've noticed. I got into the Duke ABSN program and there are SO many for that program!!

I just checked and found out that I have been accepted to UT's AE MSN program as well!! I will be entering the CNS track. Congratulations to those of you who have been accepted and I look forward to meeting everyone in June! :)
I felt the same way about waiting... I was going crazy! MDiG516- Austin is a great city to live in. I grew up in this area and will be graduating from UT undergrad with a degree in Biology in May. There is so much to do with 6th and 4th Street, Town Lake and the great live music. I am really excited to start the process of becoming a nurse, and can't wait to start. Let me know if you choose the AE MSN program! Congrats to futurelonghorncns too!

P.S. I agree- there really isn't much about AE MSN on this website. I kept combing the internet trying to find out more about how people liked the program. I'm glad though to know that there are other future UT students posting!
Aliison - I'm very impressed you are going straight from undergrad without a break! I am going to take the 6 weeks before the program off from work and do some last minute visits to family (neice and nephew) and start slowly moving my way down there. My boyfriend actually is at the UT MBA program now so I have been down quite a bit in the past year... He is super excited at the prospect of me moving down there... so on my next few visits, I'll think I'll just be bringing really REALLY large suitcases ;-)
I already love Austin from what I have seen of it so far. I'm ready to explore a new city, though, sounds like the first 15 months leave little time for much other than school, but I am very excited! I moved to SF right after college and am ready for a change (even though its only been 2.5 years).
I'm currently realizing that I am going to be in pharmacology h*ll for the next few months. I'm taking it online at U. Indiana and I put it off b/c its a lot of work and didn't want to complete it unless I got in... well, guess now I do huh? Did you already take it?

Out of curiosity, have either of you heard from the nursing school yet or only the GIAC? I saw that I have been accepted on the GIAC website, but haven't heard anything from the nursing school yet. Not sure if that matters or not, just wondering...

I haven't heard anything from the nursing school. I went however to the graduate office once and asked them how their system worked, and I was told that the nursing department makes the decisions and then the grad school almost acts as approval. They look to make sure the department's choices have a good enough GPA and GRE, and can make decisions on whether to enroll someone, enroll with some conditions or not at all. I got the feeling from the lady that this is a rare occurence, and she told me if I got accepted on the website then I had been officially admitted. I hope this helps! I feel the same way I think its a little confusing how they word it on the website.
Molly-
I am kind of jumping into grad school, but I figure the faster I start the faster I can work! My boyfriend is graduating in May also and has a job set up with National Instruments. I also by UT Club Soccer and I can now continue playing as a graduate student (good because it keeps me at least a little bit in shape)! We are both happy we were able to pull off both staying in Austin as it is kind of hard to find jobs currently and all the UT Schools are so competitive- especially the School of Business (MBA? Wow!).
I took pharmacology last semester here at UT, and it was definitely a lot of information, and like no other class I had taken at UT. I made an 89.3, and got a B. Even though it doesn't matter anymore I was a little peeved, but I guess sometimes you just make the grade and sometimes you don't! For my class it was a lot of memorization of drug names and classes and less about concept, but it was kind of nice for a while to know the name of the drugs I was taking and what they did (kind of have forgotton now....:-/). Anyway if you find you need any help with anything let me know!
Allison, did you happen to take Pharmacology last semester with Karboski? If so, I was in your class :)
I did! Glad to be done with the class- Karboski was a good teacher just intense when it came to tests. What other classes did you take/ are you taking now? I am taking Psyc2314 at ACC because they have a weekend class starting in April that is 5.5 wks, and I am currently taking NTR 311 online through UT Ext. I am also taking Anat and Phys II with Machart-- maybe we are in that class too???
Well, I graduated in December with my degree in Nutritional Sciences and I had all of my prereqs finished except human growth and development (PSYC 2314) which I am taking online at ACC right now. I thought about taking the 5.5 week class on weekends but I decided I would rather do it online since I am working a lot right now before school starts in June. Wow! It sounds like you have a really busy semester with all of those classes! I know what you mean about Karboski's class-definitely a little intense. The only thing that saved me in there was the fact that I have worked at a pharmacy as a pharm tech for the past 3 years. I am definitely glad it is over though!!
Hey! So I found this link that basically says, the GIAC only reports on what the SON says...
http://www.utexas.edu/ogs/admissions/pdf/app_process.pdf
So they only say OK if the nursing school did, so I think we are alright :-)
Thanks for the pharm info. I was worried that I was just memorizing and just pouring out information... but hopefully something will retain... I'm now more 95% UT which is exciting. I went on an interview at USD today and it was interesting... made me excited to be a nurse... just not there (ha!)... so slowly, I'm upping my interest at UT... now i have ANOTHER interview there tomorrow... ironic thing is... its for a CNL, which is lower than a CNS and their interviews are WAYYYY more intense... bizarre.
Anyways, I hope that website curbed some fears :-)
