Using Medical Terminology!!

We have a young CNA at our LTC who is also taking classes to become a nurse - and she is one that I sincerely hope DOESN'T make it!! She is not a bright person, but now that she is taking her 'prep' classes, she likes to run around and try to tell the other girls what to do.:uhoh3:

The other night she came to our unit from the back and was ranting about something - which is her usual - and I said "L, it sounds to me like you have a case of cranial rectal inversion going on there." She looked at me and said "Please don't use that medical terminology!"

My two CNA's immediately almost started rolling on the floor - she looked at all of us, then turned around and went back to her unit.

HA! HA! HA! Too funny. My hubby tells me to "Speak English" when I start with the medical terminology. I ask him "What am I speaking German?"

I once took care of this lol who's granddaughter claimed to be in nursing school, anyway, the granddaughter had the nerve to ask me why grandma wasn't on a diabetical diet.

My daughter is finishing up a CNA course and we drive the men in the house nuts with our "code talk"!

I worked with a nursing assistant, otherwise excellent, who occasionally got her words a bit mixed up.

My favorite: the patient was nauseated and about to vomit. Someone gave him an emesis basin. "Don't give him that little bitty thing, give him his wash basement!"

or how about "incentitive spiro-meter". From a girl in my LPN class. Not the brightest crayon in the box, either. [sarcasm] She didn't finish, unfortunately [/sarcasm]
