I thought we could use a thread for the USF Fall 2011 Upper Division applicants :]
Ever since they mixed up the game and started taking volunteer experience and personal statements into consideration (other than GPA only) it's made getting in much more of a "surprise"... Before if you had a solid GPA you were more or less guaranteed a spot. Have you looked into other schools?
The only other school I looked into is south university in tampa, they are accredited and offer a bsn. I think ill get in there however the tuition is 80,000 dollars...after financial aid and scholarships itll cost me 50,000 dollars worth of loans I am also thinking about switching to pharmacy but I dont know, im confused about what I should do :S
I dont know why but I feel like taking a public health minor might be a waste of time...even after i get all A's in the fall...im not sure if that would be enough to bring my gpa up to a 3.9 to be "competitive enough" for them :/ and i'de have to wait a year to get into the program where i could have actually finished one year of nursing school at south....its expensive but i dont really have any other expenses when I graduate since I live with my family...ill just work a year or two to pay it off. Thanks for ur advice though and good luck with your studies :)
Congratulations to everyone who got in! For those of you who did not, keep trying! If it's what you're meant to do then it will happen...........I got my email yesterday and I am trying to figure out what the program schedule will be like. I can't find it anywhere. Does anyone know if the program goes straight through the first summer or if we have the first summer off? Trying to figure out if graduation would be in the spring of 2013 or the summer. Thanks!
Unfortunately i did not get in:(
i had a almost a 3.8 overall with one b (in gen chem)...i worked very hard on my personal statement and volunteered soooo much (clinics, cancer facilities, etc)...i just feel like it was pure luck, dont know what else i could have done??
Sara don't give up hope. I was in the same situation in the summer and felt the same way as you do now. I applied for the summer and did not get in. In the meantime I took patho and finished my minor in public health. I applied again for the fall and got in. Try again it is possible.

I had the same question! I posted on the SOAR discussion board and asked if they knew whether or not we would be taking classes in the summer of 2012 (trying to plan a Eurotrip! )... I'll let you know what they say when they get back to me. :)
Hello everyone! I recently got accepted into the accelerated program too. I'm trying to get everything organized because there's so much to do. Has anyone thought about where they are going to live? I'm from Orlando and I'll be looking for a place soon.
I already live in Tampa... There's a ton of places to live around here, especially the student-styled housing. They'll be running specials over the summer I'm sure. Places like The Province, Campus Club, 4050 Lofts are popular. Lemme know if you have any questions on Tampa living! :)
