USF Transfer Applicant from UC Davis

Published

Hi everyone,

I am new to this site so I was wondering if I could have a few nurses and student help me out with my situation. After posting in a large forum someone commented to start a forum in the CA nursing program forum. I recently applied to transfer into USF's nursing program for the Fall of '11. I am very scared of my odds. I have a 3.3 G.P.A. and have taken a few of the general education courses needed such as statistics and psychology. I have not taken any of the classes needed to start clinical. I am a volunteer at Sutter Davis Health Hospital, work at the UC Davis Undergraduate Research Center, participate in UC Davis Center for Leadership and Learning, and I am a part of the newly started Nursing Club on Campus. What do you guys think are my chances are of being admitted?

Thank you

any comments or suggestions? anything would be appreciated

i will also keep those who are interested in USF posted on my status

Hey Imoreno

Well I just recently was accepted to USF for spring 2011 but will start clinicals in spring 2012 it seems like you have the right experience, but the classes giant panda posted are highly recommended. I know that you can have at least 2 science classes in progress before entering USF, But overall just contact the transfer admissions for more information good luck

Hi Leonard huh,

Congrats on getting in! May I ask what your GPA was like and if you had some of the science courses done before entering?

Thanks

My GPA was like yours a 3.3.

I had all my science courses done was just taking microbiology last fall when i applied for spring semster. As long as you have like volunteer work and a good essay you should be strong to be accepted no need to worry. On the other hand I think more people apply during fall session than in spring, but goodluck any other questions feel free to ask.

Hey everyone! I'm applying to the accelerated nursing program for both the summer and the fall semester. My overall GPA from my first degree was a 3.4, and my nursing prereq GPA is like a 3.2. I just feel like I don't have a shot in getting in. I have had health internships, volunteer experience, and I feel like I submitted a good essay but I feel like my GPA is going to hurt my chances. If you have any advice for me or want to share any similar stories then let me know. Please and thank you

Have you considered applying to more nursing schools? How about sac state or san jose? Ucla also has a nursing program. I took a lot of my pre-reqs at woodland cc while I was finishing Davis minus NPB. By far, the hardest class ever! If you can help it, don't take the class or the lab at Davis.

Hi newRNstudent02

I'm glad to here you took your pre req at woodland cc. May i ask if it was hard to get in? And you mentioned you were at UC Davis while you took them, was that during the summer? And are you at an RN program now?

Thanks

imoreno91, i've just received an acceptance package for fall '11. it states that i'll have to take remaining prereqs during fall '11 and will start clinicals in spring '12. so check your mailbox today;)

good luck!!!

lana

Hi there,

It wasn't too hard to get into wcc classes. I had zero priority and I still got in. PM me for instructor information. I took the classes over 2 semesters-Summer and Fall. I was still at UCD for the Summer classes. I'm starting my rn program in May. Good luck and let me know if you have any more questions

Hey Lana,

I've yet to receive anything and the wait is making me anxious. Congratulations on your admission! Are you also a transfer?

Maroa

Finally, I found a thread that's 2011!

I got accepted for fall 2011 bsn nursing program.

I was wondering how you guys are paying for school other than with the help of FAFSA. I applied for FAFSA and I didn't get much help so I wanted to know other ways I can get student loans because banks don't give out student loans anymore.

Hey everyone,

The transfer advisor from USF notified me I will be hearing back this week :yeah:

So I hope to have some good news later on in the week.

Helen Kay, look into scholarships there are many whose deadlines are not up yet. good luck!

The wait is over. I did not get in. I will try again for next year. Does anyone know possible reasons I did not get it and what I should to make myself a stronger applicant for next year?

Thank you All
