Hi everyone,
I didn't see a thread for this yet so I wanted to start a place for those who have applied the the University of South Florida FNP program starting fall 2021. Previous applicants/accepted students please feel free to comment on the process for you!
thanks!

I was actually disappointed because I specifically chose USF because I wanted that in person lecture. My coworkers who are now nurse practitioners, said that the program was mostly online. Thanks for the feedback! Where are the majority of your clinicals? And also, do you know if can you do a speciality clinic like cardiology with FNP? Thanks!
I have no idea the specifics of the clinicals as I am new as well and start the same time as you. However, coworkers who graduated have stated that the clinical rotations are terrible and can be as far as 2 hours away. Per the words of one coworker, the clinical selections are given priority to MD students, then PA, then us. I cannot verify this obviously though. Just word of mouth.

My advisor informed me that during the first year of our DNP studies we don't have classes on campus, maybe one or two lectures per month. During the second and third year our clinicals will be scheduled closer to our place of residency. That's all what I know so far. Btw anyone else here enrolled for Peds DNP?
Also I noticed in the student handbook it said we’re required to have our national certification before beginning DNP coursework but how are we supposed to have the time to study for that? I thought we don’t take that until after gradation. Just like you don’t take the NCLEX till after nursing school.

We take it after earning our MSN while in the DNP program. We sit for certification, then continue to finish DNP.

After my acceptance email I was given like 1-2 weeks to accept the offer and I just received an email yesterday with all the castle branch stuff. They only gave me till next week to buy/create my castle branch account. And then it seems like for the drug test specifically you have 72 hours after your castlebranch account is made to schedule it.

I interviewed on March 19th and haven’t heard anything back. I know others interviewed and heard back within a few days. I too wonder if anyone who has interviewed been declined, but I haven’t heard. I looked at other threads from previous years and they either got waitlisted or found out in June/July, but that information is limited to only those who have commented on the threads. Good luck to you!!

Thank you for the information!! I was going to check in next week, but I will hold off. It’s nice to know we’re are in the same boat!
