Hi,
I just got my letter today stating that I am on the waitlist. I am wondering if there is anyone else out there who applied as well, and wanted to start a thread for people to post their results. I'm anxious to get off of that waitlist (of course!). It was strange that they did not state how many people are on the waitlist or what number I am. I am going to give them a call on Monday to see if I can get any additional info.
Thanks!
Melissa
Hi bleemme,
Thank you. I appreciate that. I am a volunteer medical assistant for a public health free gyn/ob clinic that serves a huge spanish speaking population. Basically, I do what the med asst does - checking pts in, charting, urine tests, etc. I also volunteered before for the cancer society helping the patients with their free services. Besides that, I do not have any work experience in health care. I am going to take the next few months to possibly do a CNA program and/or get a job in the healthcare field. I really can't start anywhere until at least June (if USF lets me in for Summer which is highly doubtful), so I have some free time. I am done with my pre-reqs, but am going to take Stats online again since I got a C in it back in 1996. USF said that getting a CNA license and retaking anything that was lower than an A would be helpful. Otherwise, I am just going to get more letters of rec. I am applying to all of the community colleges as well and Samuel Merritt and SFSU, too.
Did you apply to USF or are you planning on applying there?
Thank you for the info. Judging from your previous post re your denial letter, it seems as if they will try hard really hard to offer you a spot for the Summer of 2010. I hope you are still interested in their program. I will keep you in my prayers. As for me, I'm working full time right now but will be leaving my job in January 2010 to get started on my prerequisites and do some volunteer work. I plan to apply to USF in Spring 2011.
I see that you are interested in doing a CNA program. I know of a free one being offered in Menlo Park this coming year. If you are interested let me know and I'll PM you the details. I wanted to do it myself but I will be going to school at Skyline College and the Menlo Park CNA program is 5 days a week. I will probably go for another CNA program but I really want to go to the free one in Menlo Park.

I would agree - It makes sense that if only a few slots opened up that they'd only call those people who they ranked highest. Calling everyone on the wait list would be a hassle for them. The letters are likely to say there is not room this semester for the rest of us and that we're welcome to re-apply for the June session. I hope I am wrong - If I am, I will gladly admit it!!!
