Hey everyone, I thought to start a thread for the current University of San Francisco Summer 2018 application period for the ME-MSN for non-nurse program. I've read the threads from previous application periods and thought it would be nice to start one for this current application period. Feel free to start posting about anything you'd want to talk about or share.
Good luck everyone!
@ma27123 that doesn't sound good... what would the CNL/management internship even be? Like shadowing a nurse manager? Doesn't sound really appealing compared to the preceptorship. Do you know if going to be the same amount of hours? Also, I read that it's expected to take the NCLEX during/after semester 5. Is this true? Are student able to work as RNs during semester 6 while we work on the masters portion?
Also, does anyone know if denials are still going out or is it just waitlist and acceptances?

My friends who are USF CNL grads. They say the CNL internship is a project. For example, in your clinical site, you will identify a process that can be improved. My friend's (we had two) worked on stroke creating a new process. Hope it helps. Also @Scenario, yes you take the NCLEX at the end of the fifth semester so you could work if you found a job. We work on the masters content through out the program.

Hey Kaydee! So i actually just spoke to a recent graduate of the program and current student. And apparently, the six semester internship listed online in the curriculum is not the same as a preceptorship. Apparently the internship is more CNL and management based and not bedside/hands-on experience, which a lot of students are upset about due to their minimal clinical hours in comparison to graduates of other programs!
USF was my first choice for awhile, but after hearing about this and hearing about how it is affecting job opportunities for graduates, I've been leaning to look at other programs.
