USF MSN-CNL non-nurse summer 2017

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hello everyone! I am currently waitlisted in the spring 2017 cohort starting in Jan for the USF MSN-CNL non-nurse cohort 23, but I wanted to start a thread for those of you applying to the summer 2017 semester because if I don't get off the waitlist I will be reapplying for summer, and if I do get off the waitlist I can help you all with info on how the process works and what to expect. Either way, since I am going through it right now, I hope to be able to help new applicants. This time can be very stressful. Who all out there is applying?

Congrats!!! I got call too! I'm still in shock! a lot to process in one day! any tips on finding student housing? Also, orientation is May 16, correct? >.

yep...orientation is the 16th.

congratulations all around. can't wait to meet everyone.

CONGRATS! To all you who got into the program this week! So glad that my spot went to one of you. I wish you all nothing but the best! @aposs yay!! Now you don't have to move out of state if you don't want! Did you ever hear from SMU ABSN?

I did hear back from SMU and I did get off the waitlist but I had already been accepted to JHU so I declined. Why go for an ABSN when I'm guaranteed an MSN...?

But now I have no idea what to do. I am very conflicted between JHU and USF. I have a lot of thinking to do and a very long pros and cons list to make.

If there is anyone looking for a roommate situation for the duration of the program a friend of mine (and former classmate) has a room available in a 6 bedroom apartment in Western Addition about a mile from USF.

Here is the link for the Craigslist listing. Come live at the Naked Lady

The apartment is available June 1st, possibly soiner.

Hi! I also just got off the waitlist and now trying to decide what to do as I was also accepted to SFSU which is exponentially cheaper tuition wise

I've decided to go with Johns Hopkins University. I wish the best for everyone at USF, or whichever institution you've decided to go with!

Hey guys, Im just wondering how financial aid works for grad school? is it like undergrad where we get a financial aid package and we just accept/decline awards or are we offered a financial aid package and are expected to apply for private loans on the side as well?? should I start making moves (I don't know where to start lol). . I got accepted into UIC and I am just trying to figure out if USF is even doable financially before I make a decision. Any info. would help :) thank you!

I would contact USF Onestop and speak to them about how to go about your financial aid. They only allow a maximum of 20,500 in unsubsidized loans per year, and from there you will need to apply for a federal Grad Plus Loan to cover the rest of your tuition.

Hi everyone. I am wondering if anyone has any more information regarding the orientation on May 16. I know we were notified that it would be from 9am to 1 pm at the main campus, but is there any other information that we need to know? Also, on the exact location of where to meet? I would appreciate any help! Thank you! :)

Thank you for clarifying @Jmariz!! I got an email today that says orientation will be on May 16, 9-1pm in Cowell Hall 315. She said we can bring something to take notes but its optional.

Congratulations to all of u who got in. I have been following this forum from last few months. I will be applying this application period (spring 2018).

I do not have much volunteer experience but my GPA is fine right now and have microbiology and psychology in progress.

I have 10months of volunteer experience with local police department. I volunteered as a victims services unit member.

Also have 100+ hours un-paid healthcare experience where I basically shadowed a CNA and did perform some work too.

Any insight on how they determine applications based on volunteer experience??

@5AAB There is truly no one way they look at volunteer experience. They take a holistic approach and look at each applicant as a whole. There isn't one determining factor, but rather each part of the individuals application is reviewed. It's a very subjective process, but they have a certain way they like to put cohorts together based on past experiences and academic success. It is so hard to figure out even why or how they pick people, but internally I am sure they have a system for it. The personal statement is very important as well as the LOR's because these serve in place as your "interview". Good luck and let me know if you have any more questions!
