Didn’t see a post about the USF ME-MSN program for Summer 2020 and thought I’d start one! Feel free to reply about your thoughts, updates on the application/decisions, etc!!

It feels like they waitlisted everyone! I just got waitlisted too ?

They do! This is my fourth time getting waitlisted. I think they prefer to waitlist over giving out denials but it’s really inconsiderate to those waitlisted. They give us no information on the length of the waitlist or our position, so we are not informed enough to know if we should try again for another cycle at usf or just accept another schools offer. I ultimately tried again (and again and again) since I thought I might have a chance after being waitlisted all those times. But I was probably at the very end of the waitlist, and should have been denied from the beginning. Would have saved me some heartache.
I was waitlisted for one other school and they at least said what my position was and the length of the list, so you know if there’s a chance. I ended up accepting another offer entirely but I would have loved to go to USF

CONGRATS! Did u get a call or just an email with an update?

Thank you, Daniella! I received an email stating there's an update.

I was accepted but will not be attending as I am going elsewhere. I hope this opens up a spot for one of you incredible future nurses! ❤️

Yes, CONGRATS!! I didn't get the last email with the update on when the decisions would go out, and didn't get any email today. Anyone else?

Thank you! Definitely check the portal. On the top, it should say 'STATUS UPDATE'. Good luck!

Waitlisted second time

I got accepted! I feel really fortunate and I am certain everybody will get into their desired program really soon.

Got waitlisted for the third time... I know it's better than being denied but it's a bit frustrating at the same time especially when it's your third time applying... I am really not sure what they look for, but I still have some hopes!

AND CONGRATS TO THOSE WHO GOT IN! if you could share your stats that'd be awesome! ?

I got waitlisted for the second time... yes those who got accepted please share your stats. I’m losing hope because I just want to go back to school!! CONGRATS to everyone that got in!!

I'm happy to share! I think it's important not to compare ourselves because simply listing our stats in no way shows the entirety of the applicant, but I know I found some comfort in this too during my application process. ?

  • I applied to 8 schools this round. Got into Columbia (which I will be attending), University of Pennsylvania, Johns Hopkins, and USF. I did not get into UCLA, UCSF, or the University of San Diego. Still waiting on UC Irvine.
  • I graduated with a b.s. in health education in 2019 with a 3.8 cumulative GPA and 3.5 prereq GPA. I actually was told by USD that my prereq GPA was the reason I did not get in so I was planning to retake the classes I got B's in if it came to it.
  • Volunteering/ Medical Experience: I spent a few years volunteering at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital (on and off), went on a volunteer medical brigade to Honduras for a week, and had 2 Summer internships doing research at UCSF. I am currently working as a chiropractic assistant.
  • I wrote an article that was published in a book with one of my undergraduate professors.
  • I had strong recommenders due to the connections I made TAing for a professor, volunteering, and interning.
  • I got my CNA certification.
  • I was very vulnerable in my personal statement which was difficult at first but was the reason I chose nursing.
  • I am not bilingual.

You guys got this! Whenever and wherever you are meant to go will happen. I know it can be difficult but trust the process. Look into programs that may seem out of your league and apply anyways. That's what I did and ended up getting into those ones over the ones I thought were my safety schools. Network as much as you can and build strong connections that will make strong recommenders. Above anything else believe in yourselves! You will all make wonderful nurses. ❤️ Feel free to message me if you have any questions or just wanna chat!

CONGRATS to those accepted to USF and or to other programs. For those admitted, did they say when the deposit is due to hold your place?

Thank you so much for sharing your stats and for your comforting message! If I don't get in this time I will definitely be working harder on my apps! Your stats are impressive and I wish you the best at Columbia! ❤️
