Didn’t see a post about the USF ME-MSN program for Summer 2020 and thought I’d start one! Feel free to reply about your thoughts, updates on the application/decisions, etc!!
I don't mind sharing the stats either!
I'm graduating this May and my major is Speech-Language and Hearing Sciences.
GPA: Current cumulative GPA is 3.78. Prereqs = 3.86
Extracurricular activities: NSSLHA member. Acquired 1.5 years' worth of volunteering hours as an ER volunteer. I was also a clinic assistant for adult neuro and child language clinics at my school for 2 years. TA for my psych professor for 3 semesters.
Professional experience: I've been working at Kaiser a little over a year at the OB/antepartum unit.
I also want to add a note of encouragement to all of you guys! 2 years ago, I was rejected from all the BSN programs that I applied to as a transfer. It still feels surreal to be admitted. For those who are waitlisted/denied, I strongly encourage you to do anything that will boost up your application. I wish you all the very best on your future endeavors as future nurses ❤️
Hi everyone,
I often took to forums to look up stats of admitted students as well so I hope this helps.
Undergrad GPA for Public Health BS at UCSD: 3.4
Pre-req GPA at local CC: 4.0
Volunteer experience: 100 cumulative hours from Scripps Memorial Hospital ED, John Muir hospital Mother/Baby unit and Pediatrics unit.
Work experience: 1 year as a research intern at La Jolla Institute for Allergy and Immunology; 1 year as an administrative assistant at UCSD Surgery Business Office; 6 months as an intern at UCSD’s Institute for Public Health; 6 months as a CNA at a nursing home; currently working as a Hospital Assistant at UCSF psych unit for over a year.
Personal Statement: I discussed my personal background in a low-income family and how the status affected how I saw the healthcare system. I then elaborated on how my academic and professional experiences led me to find my passion for nursing.
I applied to four schools: UCLA, Samuel Merritt (ELMSN-FNP), UCI, and USF. I didn’t get into UCLA and am waiting for UCI, although I wasn’t even interviewed for UCI so I know I won’t be getting in. I was waitlisted for SMU’s ELMSN FNP program but was admitted to the ELMSN-Case Management program. I will be choosing USF over Samuel Merritt. I am very grateful I got into USF on my first attempt, but I know I must have barely gotten in, knowing all of us on this forum have been doing our best to get in. For those who have been waitlisted, remember this isn’t over and you definitely will become a nurse in the end. Keep working hard and don’t lose hope ❤️

The letter of intent and deposit are due by April 15!
Also, I just created a facebook group for this cohort, since I didn’t see any existing ones. Here’s the link: https://www.facebook.com/groups/3666093726796476/?ref=share

You need to login to the application portal. There will be a new link that you haven seen before there. Click and you will see a letter with your status.
I was accepted yesterday! Also accepted at USD and wait listed at SFSU. Declined at UCSF and UCLA for what its worth.

Haha, yeah I've logged in many times, and still nothing. But thanks!
And CONGRATS!
I got accepted! For what it's worth, I was waitlisted last application round. I was still in the midst of completing a prerequisite (microbio) when I applied last time for fall 2020 and was waitlisted. That was the only change I made between the 2 application rounds.
Also accepted by USD and SMU, and only applied to these 3 schools so far.
