USF Fall 2018 Nursing (BN - Upper Division)

Published

Hi, guys!

I've been looking around for a thread for University of South Florida's nursing program for this upcoming fall and haven't found one, so here's this. :) Has anyone already submitted their application like me? And like other threads, I'm curious about other applicants' GPA's, so if we don't mind sharing them, that would be helpful! My pre-req GPA is currently a 4.0, and whole GPA is a 3.9.

Also, is it true that the nursing program has a "requirement" of how many of each ethnicity they need to accept? I was informed by a student that if you're non-white, you have a better chance of getting in because they need to have diversity...

We are not allowed to disclose information about the interview questions.

What was your GPA? They said last year the average GPA was 3.85. If all they have to go on is GPA I wonder why some with high GPA's did not get an interview. Good luck for those that still have to go for their interviews!

Maybe some of those with high GPA's aren't prenursing students at USF? Maybe they have misconduct shown on their records? It sounds odd they would be denied if the selection of interviewers if based purely off of GPA...

I think the average GPA this year will drop a bit due to them taking in more people.

Does anyone happen to know how many were interviewed and how many will be accepted? I'm so nervous

Every year is different but isn't it usually around like 120 or so get interviewed and like 50 or 60 get in or something?

I'm not sure how many were interviewed but 80 people get in.

No, they usually accept 80 per year. Last year, around 150 got interviews because on the USF Nursing statistics page, 25% of the 606 eligible applicants got interviews. They told me they're accepting 100 this year (I think due to a change in their nursing application, and how they no longer do the essay portion) so I think there was an even higher number of interviewees this year (maybe ~170?).

Hi guys, I've been following for a while and decided to post. I also was invited to interview and feel that it went smoothly. I'm so anxious just waiting!

Hi Prelove,

When did they tell you this number? Is that for both Upper Division and 2nd Degree?

There's multiple numbers. Which number? I'm guessing the 100 accepted applicants? This was revealed at one of the Stampede Into Bull Nursing meetings, I believe. Either that or it was from a chat with my advisor. This number was specific to Upper Division. Not sure about 2nd degree.

Oh okay, thank you! Last year they accepted about 45 for each cycle for both Upper and 2nd Degree. I'm glad more spots are available.

Last year they accepted 82 to Upper Division and 52 to the summer second division
