Hi, guys!
I've been looking around for a thread for University of South Florida's nursing program for this upcoming fall and haven't found one, so here's this. :) Has anyone already submitted their application like me? And like other threads, I'm curious about other applicants' GPA's, so if we don't mind sharing them, that would be helpful! My pre-req GPA is currently a 4.0, and whole GPA is a 3.9.
Also, is it true that the nursing program has a "requirement" of how many of each ethnicity they need to accept? I was informed by a student that if you're non-white, you have a better chance of getting in because they need to have diversity...
What was your GPA? They said last year the average GPA was 3.85. If all they have to go on is GPA I wonder why some with high GPA's did not get an interview. Good luck for those that still have to go for their interviews!
Maybe some of those with high GPA's aren't prenursing students at USF? Maybe they have misconduct shown on their records? It sounds odd they would be denied if the selection of interviewers if based purely off of GPA...
I think the average GPA this year will drop a bit due to them taking in more people.
No, they usually accept 80 per year. Last year, around 150 got interviews because on the USF Nursing statistics page, 25% of the 606 eligible applicants got interviews. They told me they're accepting 100 this year (I think due to a change in their nursing application, and how they no longer do the essay portion) so I think there was an even higher number of interviewees this year (maybe ~170?).

Hi Prelove,
When did they tell you this number? Is that for both Upper Division and 2nd Degree?
